The (R) Party loses another follower....
Background: This is my best friend from high school, an old-school conservative that has finally realized that his party has left him in the dust. Believe it or not, we agree on many issues, like Liberals and Conservatives did once upon a time in this country. He moved from West Tennessee to the fundie infested Tennessee east of Nashville.

Subject: Dems
You remember that conversation on Republicans and Democrats we had when I was first out here looking for a job? It was four years ago. I remember you talked about being a moderate Democrat and I was unmoved because I was fresh out of Memphis. I had a hard time seeing past the Memphis style Democrats ... placating, lazy, selfish. Well, forget everything I said. I've seen Fox News just a few too many times. If that's the Republican Party, I'm 'bout ready to switch! Somebody needs to invent a word to describe those people because there isn't one yet sufficient enough to describe them. Republicans around here are as off-their-rockers as Democrats in Memphis. I don't know if I'd call it "seen the light" but for the last couple years I feel like I have more in common with the Democrats (still HATE the Memphis ones) than with the Republicans! Do I go to confession for that?

5. "seen Fox News just a few too many times"
That gives me hope. I know what he (or she) means, but I didn't think conservatives could cure themselves by OD'ing on Fox News.

6. My first ever to the Greatest?
He's a good guy, there's very little left about today's R's that resemble him.

7. Once upon a time

Democrats and Republicans could work together on big issues and come to an agreement or compromise for the good of the country. They were actually civil to each other and even if they disagreed they disagreed with manners and respect. These days the country could go to hell as long as the repubs get their way like a spoiled 2 year old.
