At times I wish Dennis Kucinich or Russ Feingold would form a 3rd party!
In protest for all the DEMS who have rolled over and capitulated to Shrub's arrogance and no compromise position on an Iraq time-line. I know, it may sound crazy but imagine what threat it would pose to DEMS getting comfortable in Congress if true anti-war DEMS presented the public with a viable alternative party. Just imagine...

NO BLANK CHECK for Shrub's war was a mantra in 06 that brought many DEMS to the Hill last November.

Realistically, a 3rd party formed by progressive DEMS with a spine would split our party's vote and hurt the DEMS in a general election --- so reluctantly I'd advise against it because cleaning the White House of rethug cronies is our first priority.

But I'll tell ya, it's damn tempting to wish for new party that really represented the majority will of We The People! A new DEM party that had the guts to carry our demand to end this disastrous Iraq occupation straight to Shrub and not blink, not compromise, not wheel and deal.

They would represent what I thought I was voting, working, and volunteering for last November!

1. Add Ron Paul to the mix for true bipartisonship and independence
from the two main parties.

5. Kucinich founding a third party?
Haven't we had enough of weird-ass lunatics founding third parties?

On the other hand, I'm sure he'd do quite well with people who think they've been abducted by aliens.

7. LOL! Unfortunately, a third party this time around will be sane and serious,
if it's Bloomberg/Hagel.

16. A three-way Hillary/Bloomberg/Giuliani race would be torture.
Can you imagine? God, people would be shooting their televisions during the debates.

6. Nadar voter had that idea in 2000? Care to repeat that outcome?
Where would we be today if even half of them had voted for Gore? The Law of Unintended Consequences: a 3rd party on the left will help to elect a Republican. Feingold is a Democrat and I am sure he would never leave the party even when he is a lone voice crying in the wilderness.

18. No --- I simply seek leverage to move the DEMS
We voted for last November to represent us and our votes as advertised!

Per my original post, reluctantly I'd advise against it because above all - we must sweep the rethugs from power.

But elocs, the Democratic party I worked so hard for last election cycle has not paid the dividends they said they would to end the war, or at least BEGIN to end the war.

Establish a damn exit plan, anything! I have not seen any ground gained on cutting the gas to Shrub's war machine and like so many other posts echo'd today --- it's damn frustrating!!!

years, maybe 4 more will get it through?

19. You might want 8 more years of Republican in the WhiteHouse, but I don't.
You have every right to want to split the left ala Nader v Gore and lose in '08.
You're wrong to want that, but you have every right to be that way if you want.

24. I didn't say, nor do I, want that. I do acknowledge the undeniable truth
that the Democratic Party...

now listen carefully...

CAN NOT WIN WITHOUT US!

...and every one of you that believes otherwise are just fools being sold down the river by the corporate party. Every time you throw us away and ridicule us and drone on and on about "what's possible" and "good for the economy", you chase more of your allies away and make yourselves more dependent on the non-existent largess of the corporate oligarchy.

Well, how do you like the results of that strategy? The Democratic Party is on the verge of irrelevance, a mock-up of an image of pretend opposition. Someday you will wake up and wonder why everything went to shit, well look in the mirror.

The corporate strategy has yielded nothing but diminishing power, and forced us to become ever more like what we are supposed to be opposing, and it has continued for 30 years. How much longer do you think it can go on before they decide they don't need you anymore?

13. Well, the corporate apologists say they don't like us, nor need us, and there
are plenty of people of all political philosophies that are fed up with this business as usual crap. Oh, lets not forget that great untapped resource the disaffected non-voters.

You may have something there, but we need a truly charismatic speaker, a celebrity would be best (off the top of my head, George Cloony?), to break through the corporate veil.

I think a third party would be viable. The so called centrist dems are no different from repukes. We need actually a second party.
