Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 10:41 PM by Ozymanithrax
How long before we become the Republic of Teabagistan?

Of course, the last time Corporations gained such power, it took Teddy Roosevelt to end it. And he became President because of an assassination, because no Republican in his right mind wanted him as President.

4. In 2006, I remember the denial from the right...
About how the polls were wrong, and their permanent Republican majority would be like a thousand year Reich. uhhh I mean last forever.

But their denial was proved not to be a river in Egypt, but simple denial of reality.

I've read the articles, but pardon me if I wait until the fat lady sings before singing an ode to victory snatched form the jaw of defeat.

So I am working to GOTV, but I will be surprised if Republicans weep for their failure.

2. We have a Democratic President who won't allow it.
Of course, I know my post will promptly be followed by a million "OBAMA IS A HORRIBLE TERRIBLE CORPOTERRORISTBANKSTERFASCIST SELLOUT YOU CULTIST" posts, so go right ahead.

5. I think Obama's problem
comes down to being too sexy for his own good.

6. If this happens, for the next two years, Obama will be fending off a shit storm..
of 'gate scandals, while Republicans do their best to lock up Congress so nothing gets done, and blame it on that black man in the White House just not being up to the job, or whatever code word they use for the n-word now days.

Obama is limited to what he can do. He can use his veto pen, and there is no way they can over ride a veto. But he can not legislate, and he can not fund anything (Congress controls the purse strings).

If the Republicans do as they have suggested they might, they could conceivably collapse the U.S. government.

And I am pretty tired of the over simplistic thinking that leads to the type of posts you mentioned.

9. I wouldn't say that....
I might say that Pres Obama is one (albeit powerful) man swimming against a tide of shit.

Only so much he can do with the array of greed, cruelty, and stupidity against him.

I think of some of the top politicians in history, and I don't see many of them were handicapped this badly.

a state and call it another country? Then we could let them have their ignorance all to themselves.

16. So, if the mule goes blind.....
Republicans have in the past had large majorities in both houses while holding the WH. There is no chance that they will have historic majorities, that is more than they have had in the past.
I remember Jesse Helms, and so these little twerps do not really seem all that 'new' to me. Same old Republicans I've always detested.
