I lived in Monterrey, Mexico for a few years which is a city that was founded by a Jewish family who immigrated to Mexico to get away from the Spanish Inquisition. Unfortunately the Inquisitors found them and after a 'trial' executed all of them except for one female who they deemed to be insane. But later they decided she was sane and they executed her too.

There are millions and millions of Jews in Mexico.

Monterrey, Guafalajara and Mexico City are the concentrations and yes it kind of transferred the life of the Shtetl in many ways, with community centers, sport centers and yes schools.
