Prep school student commits suicide after accusation of homophobic bullying

Well guess what? Via Drudge.com, I found the story of Hunter Perkins, a 16-year-old student who was expelled from the Groton School. Perkins emailed homophobic cartoons mocking another student. The Boston Herald reports:

The grieving father accused school officials of overreacting to the doctored photos out of "political correctness" in the wake of last month’s suicide of a Rutgers University freshman who jumped from the George Washington Bridge days after his roommate and another student allegedly streamed over the Internet his sexual encounter with another man.

Oh really? How about bad parenting, Mr. Perkins?

Well, I guess the Religious Right will be parading around championing Hunter Perkins as an victim of PC just like his daddy did. Expect a whole bunch of press releases "this boy committed suicide because of his heterosexuality"...the proportion of cases like this to the regular bullying of gays be damned.

2. I'm definitely jumping to conclusions here but the first thing I thought

was that this kid is a closet homosexual and thought he would be found out. I'm sure he was in a world of hurt for being blamed for the suicide of the other kid. Something pushed him to kill himself. I've never heard of a bully committing suicide.

No need to flame me. I already said I was jumping to conclusions and I will not respond to anyone who doesn't get that.

Kids committing suicide is very sad. Anyone committing suicide is tragic.

by the way, the kid who this kid 'bullied' said a eulogy at his funeral.

I am guessing that this dad, who apparently thinks bullying in this way is not a big deal, was furious to the nth degree that his son
was kicked out of what I think is a very exclusive prep school, and possibly drove his son to suicide. But I have no idea.

Soon as I read the OP. Sad that he sent the cartoons, even sadder if its because he may be gay himself and a tragedy that he killed himself.

I don't care about the reasons,they take a permanent solution to something that can and does change.
