I am predicting Tuesday will not end well for the GOP
They have a few problems:

Problem 1: Mitch McConnell's statement that the most important job facing the next Congress is making sure President Obama isn't reelected. I'm fairly certain people with no job, or being thrown out of their homes thanks to mortgage fraud, have a different opinion.

Problem 2: The Tea Party. Let's see...Rand Paul, Christine O'Donnell, Raul Labrador and my favorite--Ilario Pantaro, who's running against Mike McIntyre in North Carolina's 7th Congressional District. Pantaro is running on a platform of calling McIntyre soft on defense (McIntyre is one of the best defense guys in Congress, thanks to the 800-pound gorilla called Fort Bragg that's in his district) and on Pantaro's record of service in Iraq. The only problem with that record is, Pantaro shot two unarmed Iraqi civilians. He was acquitted on a technicality--the prosecution's main witness was deemed unreliable because Pantaro got him demoted a couple weeks before the shooting.

Problem 3: No new ideas. I read the Pledge to America, the document that was supposed to prove the GOP wasn't idea-free; the Pledge is itself idea-free. The whole thing is cut taxes and repeal Health Care Reform. (The best part of the HCR repeal promise: first they say they're going to repeal the whole reform bill, and then they say they're going to repeal this piece, this piece and that piece.)

This is my official and last prediction:

Worst case scenario: 10 seat GOP pickup in the House, five seat GOP pickup in the Senate, both houses remain in Democratic control.
Midrange: 5 seat GOP pickup in the House, three seat GOP pickup in the Senate.
Best case: 20 seat Democratic pickup in the House, three seat GOP pickup in the Senate.

In all cases, Rand Paul will remain in his Medicare-supported ophthalmology practice rather than the Senate, and Christine O'Donnell goes back to teaching Defense from the Dark Arts at Hogwarts.

3. I further predict
That when the GOP fails to take either the House or the Senate, the violence from the right that has been percolating along for the last two years will explode, worse than ever. It will be the death of either the GOP or the United States.

5. I think you're giving those people who listen to the RW too much credit. I think
THOSE people who are with no job, or being thrown out of their homes thanks to mortgage fraud, probably blame Obama and agree with McConnell.

They're not logical or rational, jmowreader, plus it's become more and more apparent to me, they're afraid of the Black guy in the White House.

7. They also don't tend to vote
Nor do I think they'll vote this year.

I don't want to mention "Dewey Defeats Truman" because it's been done too many times, but look at the RECENT history of the GOP: when they obstructed their way to the 1998 loss of the Senate.

10. In 2006, I remember the denial from the right...
The polls were wrong because of all kinds of other indicators.

They were simply in denial.

I am going to vote and work on GOTV, but I fully expect Republicans to do well.

12. Rand Paul seems to have a pretty good lead and is favored to win
O'Donnell is a joke and will always be Sarah Jr.

The (R)s will do well, just not well enough to live up to expectations.

I expect us to hold the Senate and for the majority in The House to be very slim (can't honestly predict who will have the majority).

This won't be good enough for the (R)s and the tea baggers who think there is a tidal wave coming when it is something most politicians will be able to ride out.

what the hell...

They get the House. We keep the Senate. Rand Paul wins.
