I saw Senator Feingold this afternoon.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-10 06:50 PM by undeterred
It was my good luck to come into one of his campaign offices to volunteer just as he was leaving, so I got a warm handshake and a hug - from a person I respect more than anyone else I can think of.

I know a lot of people at DU are worried about this race, but let me tell you- the campaign is being run very well. Wisconsin Democrats have a solid plan for getting out the vote, and our opponents do not. In past years the GOP in Wisconsin has tended to rely on wedge issues to draw their voters out, and there are none on the ballot this year. (Well, there is a medical marijuana referendum, but it doesn't seem to have gotten much publicity. And if you forget to turn the ballot over, you'll miss it altogether.)

Read more about the ground game here: http://lacrossetribune.com/news/state-and-regional/wi/article_60c07ef2-e3da-11df-9e07-001cc4c03286.html

There are thousands of Democrats working to keep Russ Feingold in the Senate, and we will prevail.

:kick:

2. How lucky for you!
Getting to not only meet him, but to get a warm handshake and a hug!

What a fantastic memory this will make...

I hope you're right about him prevailing.

We really need his courageous strong voice in the Senate...

17. I got a big lift out of seeing him but also from
talking to the wonderful young people that run his office. Everything is calm, organized, and even ahead of schedule. They are optimistic and grateful for our help. Its a pleasure going in there to volunteer every week and I will miss it (3 more days).

28. It's wonderful, but not luck and certainly not rare.
Senator Feingold conducts town halls in all 72 counties every year and has done this every year in office. He will talk to, handshake and hug any and all of his constituents.

34. And winning this election will not be a matter of luck
but the fruit of some really good organization and planning on the part of the State and National Democratic parties and strong grassroots support for Feingold.

7. I ran into Tom Waits at the deli, yesterday.
But, seriously, the fact that Feingold is struggling is a real head-scratcher for me. I have always admired his willingness to swim against the current.

I am proud to have donated to his campaign even tho I am on the West Coast.

32. Thanks from me too, for that link.
I'm not from Wisconsin, but I love Senator Feingold. I told my son last week that if he lost, I'd cry for certain.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I called his DC office a few years back to thank him about something he said during a Senate hearing. I actually got to talk to him - and he knew I wasn't his constituent! Not only that, he asked me a few questions!

He's an intelligent articulate man with convictions. We all need Senator Feingold to stay in office.

15. I voted for Feingold in '92....
....when I was a student at UW-Madison. His knocking out Bob Kasten was almost as sweet as Bill Clinton beating George Bush that year...almost. :)

Russ Feingold has been a damn good senator. I hope he can pull thru on Tuesday.

20. When somebody on a given job does a really poor job,
I can see letting that person go, but when somebody on a given job does a hell of a great job, I say re-elect that person by a wide margin.

You showed up and offered good spirits to a good man, undeterred. Good on ya.

Go, Russ.

27. After watching the republicons twist themselves into knots
trying to gerrymander one of the best Democrats ever out of his seat--Lloyd Doggett prevailed. Time and time again.
Russ is one of the good guys. They want him out--BADLY. Media included.
Good luck in Wisconsin. May sanity prevail.

35. psst
There are "IGNORANT" voters everywhere. And there are informed voters as well. Wisconsin has elected him 3 times already and because of your DU brethren in this state, we likely will again.

So, kindly don't pull the generic "voters in Wisconsin are IGNORANT" bullshit. kthxbai

36. GO RUSS!
I can't believe Feingolds seat is in jeopardy. I can only wish to have a Senator like him...a true peoples advocate. I can't imagine the reason why he is even behind in this race. Of course polls are only as credible as those conducting the poll, and every one seems to have an agenda these days.

40. Get Out The Vote for Feingold
I just came back from my second shift of GOTV calling at Feingold HQ here in Madison. The volunteers running it say they are way ahead of schedule in calling. They thought they'd get through each of the precinct lists once over the weekend. By this evening they think they'll get through three times.

Good responses from the targeted Democrats I got to talk to.

I walked eleven miles knocking on doors over the past two days. Lots of positive responses. The last person I talked to told me that she had already voted; she's a republican and voted for Russ. Turnout is high at Madison polling places.
