I try to imagine what it must be like to be a gay student at Midland (Ark) High School
The town has all of 267 people. I don't see numbers of students on their website but they do list their faculty. In a school that has both jr and sr high, there are 21 people (including the principal) on their faculty. That is the definition of a really small school. I can't imagine that one could live there without everyone knowing your business. To have the vice president of the school board say the comments he said, and then offer his non apology, apology, can you imagine going to school the next day? As unlikely as it is, I hope there isn't a gay person at that school. It really is too awful to imagine what life would be like for a gay kid there.
