3. I've read several sources that have it as 250K, and one at up to 350K.
But we all know that Jon Stewart was right - it was in the millions!

4. Not really. I was there, but it was my first big rally, so I can't tell
However, I can tell you that the rally was far beyond the perimeters set for the rally! People were sitting on the steps of buildings on both sides, were climbing in trees, and were far beyond the 7th street "boundary."
The crowd was also VERY dense. . .we arrived at 10 am, were situated far beyond the 3rd screens line, and by 11 am we couldn't move, couldn't bend, couldn't sit on the ground. . .we were really shoulder to shoulder!

Also very diverse crowd. . .especially in age! My husband is 70, I am 60, and our friend is 55. . .but we saw people who looked at least 80 and also families with babies and small children. Obviously lots of 20 to 30 year old, but also lots of people around 45 to 55, 60 to 70 and suprisingly many 80+!

A lot of good posters. . .but I did see a few (maybe 3) "extremists" posters (one comes to mind: "Impeach BARACULA" with a drawing of what pretended to look like Obama with red eyes!

A wonderful day! A great rally.

Jon Steward last speech was amazing. It brought tears to my eyes, and even my husband's eyes watered. An older man (probably mid 70's) standing next to us had big tears pouring down his cheeks. I think that speech reached quite a few people!

9. I do have a comparison and your description is spot on
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9424847

I was at the antiwar march in October 2002 and this dwarfed it. There wasn't room for a shadow to hit the ground.

13. I was there also, and my guess was 200K -
but that was based only on the fact that I, and my sister and her friend, got there at 11:00 and could literally not get close enough to hear a single joke, a single song, or even see the Jumbotron screens. Even with the mall filled up, there were still thousands more on the adjoining streets trying to find a way to get close enough to see anything at all. I do believe they seriously expected the crowd to be 60-80k, and it was certainly way bigger than that. My sister said she'd send me some pics she go, when we were not being carried by the flow of the crowd, but they will all be of the periphery. My friends here saw far more on TV than I saw being there.

But i did see a multitude of really good signs, AND the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

5. My estimate is around 400 - 500,000
Edited on Sat Oct-30-10 09:19 PM by GreatCaesarsGhost
The pictures of the mall don't show all of the people on the sides. It was packed.

edit: local news just said Metro handled 400,000 people today.

10. As a graduate of Glenn Beck University (BA, MA, PhD, LS/MFT, BFD in Cypherin'), my best estimate is:
14 million, plus or minus seventeen or so.

(I've read that CBS has hired the same company they used for the Beckerhead Rally estimate to do an estimate for this one, too. If it disagrees with my estimate, it'll be because they're commies.)
