Whole Foods Under Fire For Allowing Prepared Food To Ride Trash Elevator

Over the weekend, a tipster sent us this photo taken in a service elevator at the Union Square Whole Foods, where "cooked, prepared turkey breasts were being carted upstairs along side filthy garbage cans and employees with dirty dustbins." The world was shocked and appalled, and Whole Foods has issued this statement in an attempt to put the incident behind them:

2. Picture from the original source (to avoid the HuffPost article that doesn't even have it)

Or at least I didn't see it there.

3. In most of the kitchens I've worked in there were nasty garbage bins where food was prepared

Sometimes the garbage bins were right next to the counters -- oh my.

4. What was the Whole Foods brouhaha of last year about?
Was it that the CEO is against a public option for health care? Or he's an anti-gay? I can't remember.

8. Not that I needed a reason to NOT go to Whole Foods
They charge, what, $8.00 for a potato? OK, that may be slight exaggeration but it's not far. Gotta love our loacally-owned and operated Kristina's Market and our wonderful Farmer's Markets where produce is grown by farmers and the produce only traveled maybe 12 miles to get here. Whole Foods. Pffffttt!

9. "The world was shocked and appalled" OMG I need to feign some righteous indignation
I'm no fan of Whole Foods, but really, "The world was shocked and appalled", I'm sorry but someone apparently lives on the planet Hyperbole.

11. Whole Foods is over priced and has lousy customer service
They tried to get one here in town and we said no thanks, we are fine with our local stores and Farmer's markets, really.
WF sells the illusion of being 'better' but as this photo shows us, they hold the public in contempt.
