9. Not me. I'm Election Officer for a big precinct here. I expect a long, busy day.

I spoke up about improper procedures and unqualified election workers 10 years ago. So, they asked me if I would work elections and help them out. I felt that I should "put my money where my mouth was" and agreed to do it.

I've worked every election day since then, and sometimes Early Voting days also. It's not my favorite work, frankly, and it's a long hard day. And some disgruntled voters aren't much fun to deal with. But I've been successful in getting our workers and my precincts organized, following proper procedures, and I don't get intimidated. Oh, and I practice "patience" all day and try to not take things personally.

The people I work with now are great and we're all committed to fair elections. We just try to make sure that this partisan stuff doesn't get in the way of doing a good job.

So, I miss all the excitement because I'm there until the polls close and then have to take the "ballot box" and the electronic machines to the Election Office after the polls close.

I make the effort because I believe that this is my democracy, too, and it's my responsibility to participate where it's appropriate.

20. I was the Poll Worker Training Coordinator for the Orange County Registrar of Voters, LONG DAY.

Election days were the culmination of everything we worked for, and they were not only hectic; they were long, frustrating, and the REAL hard work ended sometimes 22 hours after the day started.

Because I was in charge of training upwards of 6,000 poll workers in Orange County, I was put in charge of the Poll Worker Help Line on election days. The reasoning was hey, I wrote the training materials, hired the trainers and trained 'em to train others, so my trainers and I should be there on the phone bank if they had any problems during the day. So on election day we manned the phone bank starting at 5 a.m. and stayed there until about 9 p.m., when they were finally finished wrapping up operations.

After that, we'd hustle our asses downstairs, and help receive the returning ballot boxes and JBC's, which were the control units for the network of voting machines. We received stuff from over 1100 polling places in the matter of a couple hours, and it was an "all hands on deck" evolution.

I miss it though, kinda. There was a sense of pride that I'd not encountered in a workplace since I served in the Navy.

I would add that during my first election as a trainer, the phone bank answered upwards of 16,000 trouble calls. My last election as the Training Coordinator, after hiring and training the trainers, we took less than 5,000.

Facilitating democracy is an awesome job, and an awesome responsibility. I wish more people would get involved in operating polling places. At the end of the day, there's a sense of satisfaction and a sense that you've been a part of something MUCH larger than yourself.

12. Gotta admit, I will be glued to the TV...

I'm a political junkie. I will be watching ALL the networks and news channels. If we start doing much better than predicted, I will watch Fox just to watch them squirm. If the night doesn't go well, I will leave it mostly on MSNBC but check in on CNN now and again.

I will also be reading DU the whole time.

Even if we generally don't do well, my heart is still with many candidates that I really like. I can pull for each one of them to make it through.

I'm viewing it as sporting event where the other team starts with a huge advantage. I expect we are going to get beat, but there will still be lots of moral victories and people to cheer for.

I dread it in a way, but I do love electoral politics.

They're supposed to be having election coverage. I'm sure it will pale in comparison to the MSM in terms of all the high-tech graphics, etc., but at least I won't have to listen to any of the republican talking-heads. I'm sure they'll be all over the place on the networks.

It's on Dish Network, and I believe it's also on Direct TV. It features news and programming from a liberal/progressive perspective. I actually found out about it on this site. Never even knew it was on until then.

16. I voted already. Watching the news obsessively will not change the outcome one way or the other.

I'd rather watch reruns of I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners, since Tuesday's a day off for the World Series.

Coverage starts at 9, earlier than any other ota channel. Haven't seen Keith or Matthews or Maddow in ages. I'll definitely be watching. And keeping tabs on the web. The web. God, I love the web.

28. I'm not watching ANY NEWS between now and early Wednesday AM...

I have had more than enough political ads and manipulative media bullshit, and I have recorded many hours worth of movies and musical shows to get me through till after the election.
We will vote early Tuesday morning, then have a relatively busy day.

The only thing I am going to watch till after midnight Tuesday is the weather forecast-I have also had more than enough of Chris Matthews and his assholish opinions and self aggrandizing arrogance.
I no longer watch any of his programs, and don't care to watch him at all any more.
