4. i already knew that's what they would do because technically they are correct. |
|
you could have tens of thousands.... counting up to 200,000. but tens of thousands sounds like no big deal where more than 100,000 sounds like a big deal and what they want is for this to be a minor no big comedian joke thing. because they thrive on the division they show all the time and 200,000 moderates being reasonable does not fit into their storyline.

7. i know. it's what you do when you want to buy something and you want to make it sound |
|
like it costs less. you have an item that costs 10.99. you want to buy it so you tell your spouse, hey it's only $10!! or if you are the wife and you don't want to get it you say, but it's $11!! rounding up or rounding down makes it sound like a deal or expensive.... now imagine wordplay regarding crowd size. i mean, the trouble with doing that with crowd size is that there are pictures readily available that one can look at and SEE that there are A LOT of people there.

11. The overcount Republicans - undercount Dems |
|
I remember in San Francisco in October 2002 we had an anti-war rally of over 100k and they reported "a couple of thousand" protesters and had no video.

12. Though technically correct, |
|
it's a twist on the facts and the truth. You have to count 10,000 25 times to get to the real number.
I think a new name for it would be Twist Journalism.

My crowds bigger than your crowd. Yada yada. And this proves? Who cares what the corporate media says, those who tuned in know. The only numbers that matter are those on Tuesday. If this rally helped energize some who were sitting on the fence, that's also what counts...and those people were likely sitting at home, not on the Mall.

20. Not By Counting Noses At Rallies... |
|
Last Wednesday over 3 million people tuned in to see President Obama on the Daily Show. That's more people than watched any of the trash on Faux and the other cable "news" channels combined. Even more important, many are people (like my 23 year old son) who watch TDS and Colbert every night while they could care less about the others. Blaming the media is a good water cooler game...and I do my share, but what they have to say about yesterday's rally is pretty much irrelevant and petty...and many see it that way.
Cheers...

18. My sister gets both Chicago newspapers. The Sun-Times carried an AP |
|
story, which went with the "tens of thousands" and actually said the crowd was the same size as the Beck rally. :eyes: She then opened the Chicago Tribune, which carried a story from their Washington Bureau. They estimated the crowd size at 250,000.
