Boycott McD's who threatens employees with lower wages if they vote Dem
The owner of a franchise in Canton, Ohio enclosed a handbill in employees' paychecks that threatened lower wages and benefits if Republicans don't win on Tuesday.

"As the election season is here we wanted you to know which candidates will help our business grow in the future," reads the letter. "As you know, the better our business does it enables us to invest in our people and our restaurants. If the right people are elected we will be able to continue with raises and benefits at or above our present levels. If others are elected, we will not. As always, who you vote for is completely your personal decision and many factors go into your decision."

The note ends with a list of candidates McDonald's believes "will help our business move forward." It names Republicans John Kasich for governor, Rob Portman for Senate, and Jim Renacci for Congress. With the letter was a biography of Renacci.

On Friday, franchise owner Paul Siegfried apologized in a written statement, saying the communication was "an error of judgment on my part." "Please know it was never my intention to offend anyone," he added. "For those that I have offended, I sincerely apologize."

5. funny how sorry people are who get caught breaking the law...
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 12:14 PM by blue sky at night
the past tense is the key here, he got caught: that's why he is sorry, he couldn't care less about offending anyone or he would not have done it in the first place.

This guy needs an attorney because he better be getting served.

BRAVO to the employee who came forward here, he or she is a real American.

6. It was a franchise, but...
I was craving fries for some reason yesterday and almost made a rare visit to McD's. Then I remembered this disgusting story. From here on out, I will continue to visit to McD's as I always have - through the side door to use their restroom.

7. "I apologize if anyone was offended"
Repug fake apology 101. It means "I'm sorry someone noticed my transgression, and even though what I did might be illegal, please don't stop patronizing my shitty restaurant."

8. McDonald's corp
should revoke his franchisee license.

Let the right-wing fundies who run Chik-Fil-A give him one instead.

9. Just remember they are franchise and ALL McDonald's
do not agree with that provision. The McDonald's in our area is owned by a person who is definitely Democratic.

10. Hell, I boycott all fast food chains. I vote with my mouth and my wallet.
And sometimes with those paper-card things with names and boxes.

Support better food and local independent businesses!

21. How about we shame those who chose to patronize clown food?
I do that with SUV buyers and, with a few exceptions because they can't take it, Walmart Shoppers.

20. McDonalds
Boycot them because they are selling death to millions of americans every day. If you're apprehended selling street drugs that kill users, you go to jail. If you sell food that kills users, you make billions of dollars and open franchises all over the planet.

boycott...sure...but PICKETLINES are the answer. Signs and marchers on the sidewalks in front of the store.

Make sure you have the right store however.

25. Oh man nothing irritates me more than businesses who preach to their customers/employees
Like last night I saw a roofing company - in my town (this is Southern California) - that had giant bible verses on it and a huge banner that read "need a job? Fire Pelosi and Reid!". Look - if I'm buying your product or working for you, don't fucking preach to me, ok??
