Gen.: Clinton Lost Launch Codes for Months
http://www.military.com/news/article/gen-clinton-lost-launch-codes-for-mos.html?ESRC=dod.nl

Many considered Bill Clinton an American president of charisma and vision. But he did not always have the patience for the peskier details of his job -- like never, ever forgetting to have those nuclear launch codes in his top pocket, or at least somewhere on his person.
According to a former chairman of the joint chiefs, Clinton managed to mislay not for hours, but for months, the special plastic card with the codes that in military and White House parlance is called "the biscuit." Without it, the president is theoretically unable to order a nuclear launch.

I think I would have actually felt safer if I knew this at the time.

1. That's a little hard to believe.
I might lose something around my office for months. But I would assume with the amount of security and staff surrounding the President, every area he is in is immaculate and something like that lying around would not go unnoticed.

11. I rank this story up there with the "Clinton Admin left the Whitehouse
trashed!" story in the credibility department.

16. And, of course, the codes, if lost, couldn't be replaced in about sixty minutes.
They don't have, for example, the next day's codes. Nope.

This couldn't stink more of well-timed partisan bullshit.

3. This would not be the first time a Pentagon Chairpig tried to destroy Bill Clinton
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 04:34 PM by kenny blankenship
there was the opening bid from Colin Powell, who threatened mutiny if Clinton ordered integration of gays in the military. Clinton should have sacked his warcriminal ass right there.

6. I'm not buying
I don't think the President even carries the launch card. Hell it would be too dangerous. Imagine Dubya carrying the card!!

9. Balderdash
Yeah, and Clinton's staff removed all the W's from Whitehouse keybords before turning office over to Bush.

Just as that story was proven to be a lie, so will the launch code story, no doubt. My guess is the GOP began spreading this story in response to recent polls showing that the Big Dog is presently the most popular politician in the country.

It seems highly unlikely that they couldn't simply reset the launch codes and issue a new "biscuit." Hell, my bank makes me change my password every few months whether I lost it or not, just for security's sake. I would think the military would employ security measures on the launch codes that are at least as sophistocated as those used by my community bank website.

true of course. These attacks never are.

This article says one of his aides lost it, and Clinton was not to blame.

Just more of the 'draft dodger' or Clinton hates the military bull shite. I notice it wasn't explained how Shelton knew this, more important allowed it to continue.

I don't know if he can swing a club, but he could lick all of their balls clean, that's for sure.

Have a safe Halloween, sarge43.

24. Oddly enough,
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 12:38 AM by Rincewind
when this story first came out a few weeks ago, it was reported that the military aide had miss placed the launch codes. And they were immediately replaced. The lost codes (which the aide, not the president carries) were found later, and it is doubtful Bill Clinton was ever told. In another few weeks, the story will be that Clinton tried to sell the launch codes to the Chinese, so they had to be replaced. More right wing bullshit.
