The media is taking it personally
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 04:30 PM by nadinbrzezinski
If any of you justblistened to the exchange between huffington and Mathews....

Good job, one of the objectives of the Rally was met. How do we know? Now we have two media figures who are going NOT ME!!!!

Good. They should take it personally.
Of course they won't -- but they should. Stewart and Colbert did a damn fine job of shining a spotlight on the many ways in which the media suck, including the fact that they never think it's them.

3. Good
Although I agree with HipChick that Arianna handed Tweety his butt:

4. The "media" at Faux won't understand it.
Maybe Shep, but the rest won't get it, just like they don't get Colbert.

10. Wait for the video to be posted
It is a must see.

The cliff notes, Arianna pointed out that demonizing was the problem.

11. One thrust by Tweety was that Comedy Central was candy
and cable news wasn't. Arianna parried and said no it wasn't and that

Stewart and Colbert speak truth to power.

25. Matthews is a right wing tool ... presume he's a little "off" his base right now with Dems in power?
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 07:08 PM by defendandprotect
If Jon Stewart is "candy" then Matthews is dental disease ...!!

15. Tweedy hates criticism.... He can't handle it... He couldn't understand why he was being picked on
Because there were people who didn't recognize him or know who he was.. He's an arrogant wind bag who loves his own voice. I think most people get the point who attended or support the rally. People were begging them to do this to counter the beck rally of extreme and hate. I think fox is mrs than guilty of creating an issue to spin message... But all the media are guilty. Large corporations, money, and ratings create an insane environment. Think of the build up for war in Iraq and the insane drum beat by the media when around the world people were protesting an invasion of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 or attacking us.... Lies and lies... Think of the al gore lies, the kerry lies smeared around... The republicans constantly invited on to spew their lies or "pundits" who aren't really a "left" view... Or allowing the otherside's lies stand as a valid point of view as if Its valid and fair and balanced.

Tweety is too full of himself and too insulated in dc... DC is so out of touch with reality of regular Americans in this country. They don't understand what it feels like to be scared because social safety nets in this country are soooo inadequate and the only people politicians seem to favor are there own and those who buy them.

17. He's also just a little insightful
It was about him and every other talking head. We don't just call him Tweety because he has a yellow mop of hair. His incessant chirping is of little value and much uselessness and in a less 24/7 infotainment environment, he wouldn't even be heard, which, for the most part, would be a very, very good thing.

22. Yeah, it's his looks to a certain extent, but it's his annoying chirp
and twitchyness that gives him the edge on the name.

19. Ed's a little hypocritical
He blusters & bombasts when the "right" says crazy shit, but EVERY day, he gives "them" equal time when he invites Ole Crazy-eyes & Heidi Whatshername to sop up all the airtime they can..

They add NOTHING to the "discussion", and he's allowing them to broadcast their venom in the 8,764th venue they have open to their drivel.. Every second they waste on-air, is a second that could be used by someone else who could be shedding light on some truth.
