The ONLY damage control that can be done now is for Democrats to put on their best faces |
|
and shout from the rooftops that THEY funded the troops and THEY reached across the aisle in the spirit of bipartisanship. There has to be some face-saving before they are eviscerated anymore by the punditocracy.

1. If they don't want to get eviscerated... |
|
They have to stop laying down on the chopping block.
When will they figure out that there is one way to fight this: Head on, NHB, headbutts, knees and elbows encouraged. Then, when you have them weakened, choke the fuck out of them.

3. There is no way to salvage this |
|
This is pure capitulation and appeasement; even the mainstream media recognizes it. When you negotiate with an opponent, your goal is to at least win some type of concession from them. The Democrats won nothing from Bush. He slapped them down like errant schoolchildren, told them it was his way or the highway, and they trudged back to their offices with heads bowed, broken and acquiescent.

4. One thing I keep wondering.. Is it too late to change their minds? |
|
I'm pretty sure it hasn't even been drafted yet.
Maybe Pelosi can say something like this tomorrow, "We want to get the troops funded in defiance of Bush's veto, but the people, in overwhelming numbers spoke loudly yesterday and we have no choice but to end this war. Therefore we will be sending the president a bill with a hard timetable for withdrawal."
Probably just wishful thinking on my part huh.
