Public Policy Polling (D): "We're not going to lose the Senate! Does that pass for good news?"

They're releasing polls this weekend in basically all relevant Senate races. They have been pretty good with statewide races in the past (got Scott Brown's victory margin exactly right, got Virginia and New Jersey's governorships within a few points, and did very well in 2008). So they would probably be in a position to know.

We'll find out over the next day or so how they think the Senate will look next year.

1. Well, that means when the House RETHUGS vote to impeach Obama
the Senate won't stand in lockstep.

2. If we hold the Senate, that is great. After all the mantra has been
the Democrats are goners.

Most important: The more votes we put on the scoreboard
(even if we lose) proves this is not some RW Country.
The Republicans have to listen to us.

Let's say the final vote for a candidate is 49 to 47.
Yes the Republican won but that also means at 47 did not
agree with his politics.

49 to 20, the Republican can claim a mandate from that state.

Democrats, there are many reasons to vote. This is not
some RW Country.

4. It would be the DLC's best showing ever
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 06:30 PM by MannyGoldstein
The DLC has either lost Congress or maintained a minority in all six election cycles where they've been in control of our Party. Keeping the Senate would be a miracle. Thanks God for the utter insanity of the opposition... I guess...

7. Your post reminds me of Republicans who are constantly afraid of "voter fraud"
Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 07:44 PM by BzaDem
as if there is some "voter fraud" phantom that swoops down and is the cause of all the world's ills.

Though I guess there is a difference, in that you appear to believe in the "DLC rules the world" phantom, whereas I think Republicans don't even believe what they're selling.

8. Are you saying that the DLC is not firmly in charge of the party?
Obama is not officially DLC, but virtually everyone he chose to set and execute policy is.

Do you disagree that this same group of people ruled our Party for 6 previous election cycles - and all were catastrophes?

Triangulation is an interesting theory, and perhaps a good tactic at times, but it's a disaster as a strategy.

5. Marginally.
The Senate is where any true change of course has died and dies.

9. The fact that anyone even has to ask that question says a LOT
about the last 21 months.
