The fire is at 100 acres (just updated to 200 acres-from 4 acres at 4:30pm) and they have evacuated a few hundred people from Bruce road/Skyway and up Honey Run about 5 miles to the Covered Bridge. Skyway is closed at Bruce Road. The fire jumped the Skyway headed towards the south side of Butte Creek Canyon, it is near Rim Rock Road. I hope it does not jump the creek and endanger homes on the north side of the canyon.

If the fire heads east (which is the direction the wind is blowing) the town of Paradise could be in BIG trouble.

It is VERY, VERY windy here and today's paper said it would be a HIGH Fire danger day.
Atmospheric decoupling-potential for wind increase because of inversion layer and relationship to central valley is high--

Looks like I moved out just in time.....

There are also a few other fires in the county, this is going to be one hellacious fire season for california

just got my first whiff of smoke and found out I am directly in the flight path of the bombers as they return to Chico airport, two have already passed directly over my house, which is why I turned on the news in the first place

Officials have shut down the Skyway at Honey Run Road while firefighters battle a wildfire in the area.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire north of the Skyway shortly after 3 p.m., according to reports on the California Highway Patrol Web site.

According to reports, the fire was approaching Spanish Gardens and may have crossed over Butte Creek.

The Skyway was later closed to vehicles. Commuters heading up and down the ridge are asked to take Neal Road.
