What's it going to take? just asking.... |
|
What is it going to take to impeach bush/cheney?
For the most part it is generally agreed there is more than enough evidence circulating to warrant impeachment. MSNBC had an on-line poll - 88% said bush/cheney are worthy of impeachment.
yet, the other side of the argument is that there are not enough votes and impeaching now would just make the Dems look foolish.
by not holding bush/cheney accountable is giving them permission to continue and sets a precedent for future presidents to also abuse and twist the system to their own priorities.
so what's it going to take to get the votes? Where's the tipping point? what will be the last straw? How much more crap will be dumped on us before we say enough?

1. they'd better impeach before Bush decides to exercise his new dictatorial powers . . . |
|
once he takes control of everything, it'll be too late . . .

If Clinton had done what Bushie has done. He'd have been hung literally.

4. They *WON'T* be impeached. |

They *WON'T* be impeached.
The whole Clinton impeachment debacle was executed to serve one purpose:
Completely and totally immunize the 2000 Republican winner from *EVER* Facing any possibility of impeachment, no matter what crimes he committed in furthering the PNAC agenda.
And it worked, and it will continue to work.
Oddly enough, if they had actually *SUCCEEDED* in removing Clinton from office, this wouldn't have worked because political revenge would eventually have been taken. But by making a mockery of the impeachment process (an impeachment for a blowjob), they assured that the American body politic would not think well of impeachment for a long, long time.

5. Might as well give it up and resign yourself. |

He'll be there right to the bitter end. Even after he's gone the only thing that will rid America of this right wing infatuation is some sort of mass extinction event.

6. 17 Repugnicans With Spines |
|
That would be the number needed to convict in the Senate. These people are the ones who are this regime's insurance policy and will be unless the pressure on them gets so difficult they're forced to act. But we know this isn't going to happen.
Again, I appreciate the passion and if impeachment were the do-all end-all to ending this ugly occupation and righting all the wrongs in this country, I'd be as outraged as you, or more. But I don't see that happening and that we're just starting to learn about the abuses and crimes here. 6 months ago, did we know how screwed up the DOJ was? And there's a ton of digging that has to be done...this onion is just starting to be peeled.
The accountability to this regime needs to be addressed in a truly criminal, not political fashion. Everyone whose participated in these crimes must be investigated and brought to account for their actions. This won't happen in the House or Senate...or even in our own courts (even though I suspect the DOJ purge will backfire with a vengeance) but in international ones as well.
The verdict of this regime will be written in the history books and in the legacy of a destroyed Repugnican party that has contradicted every major selling point it had and is splintered into growing self interests. The worm truly has turned and there's a bigger picture in play here...one that's taken us from the deepest darkness to the direction of the light...but we're still not there yet.
The people who need to be held accountable right now for propping up the Booosh/Cheney regime are the Senate Repugnicans...and the Liberman Party Of One.
Cheers...

7. D, I used to believe it possible. Not any more. |

How could anyone, especially those who CLAIM to be Christians, tolerate the evil and madness of George II? Now I see it may be a stage 4 carcinoma in the body politic; the elite will not surrender one sou, and the Bastille has been reconstructed using the blood of a deluded military and innocents by the hundreds of thousands to make the mortar,
AND YET IT CONTINUES, AND NO ONE IN POWER WILL STOP IT.
Where is that good Senator or Congressperson, who will lie down in the door to the chamber, refusing to move until the wrongs are redressed?
Where are the citizen soldiers who refuse to do the evil in Abu Grahib or Guantanamo?
Where are the patriots in intelligence who will expose the monsters for what they are.
Ain't happening Dory.
