Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out!
The more I see, the more I believe that NOTHING will change the course of the nation, except a complete breakdown of the system. We continue to chug along like a 1976 Chevy Vega, belching burnt oil and shredding camshaft belts, and nobody seems to see that radical change is the only way.

This could go on all day if I wanted.

Maybe this is the only way...Maybe the old wreck has to break down, catch fire and burn to scrap metal before it can change. It's always happened that way everywhere else, so maybe it has to become such a stench in the nostrils that the very common man him/herself rises in anger.

It seems that the only way to really change anything always comes down to storming the Bastille. It doesn't have to be this way, but no one in DC is listening.

2. I forget how you used to word it, but here goes:
Come, let us toast our marshmallows and roast our hot dogs on the bonfire of the vanities.

4. The trouble is Tyler
That if I said what I'm feeling a couple of things would happen, well three, first my post would be deleted, then I'd be tombstoned, then the secret service would be kicking down my door and I'd never be heard from again.
That maybe what it takes though, just like old John Brown, a sacrafice to the gods of change.

8. You may rest assured that others feel the way you do as well.
I cannot be obscure enough to avoid prosecution, I fear.

5. Just like in "I Claudius." Was it Claudius who said that?

I agree, no one in DC is listening.

7. Yep. Ol' Cla-Cla-Cla-Caudius.
Point of the novel is that Claudius wished to end the monarchy and restore the republic, and finally saw that it had to become the worst it could be before it would change.
