Monica and the "Aww... Poor Baby" factor.
Because let's face it. We will be going uphill against the "visuals".. A young, not awful looking, woman.. facing a panel of much older, more powerful men...

Will the Dem's pull their punches? You KNOW the Repugs on this committee will do the "You just come right over here to Daddy, honey.. Did that bully scare you?" dance.. Especially if she puddles up under questioning.

Will her lawyers have her dressed like Alice in Wonderland with a Peter Pan collar and a little circle pin?

1. Maybe they'll get Judge Samuel Alito's wife to sit behind her ...
then she can cry and the repugs and talk of the shock and outrage at the lack of "dignity and civility".

2. If they frame what she did properly, she'll be as sympathetic as Lucretia Borgia.
Edited on Wed May-23-07 07:52 AM by OmmmSweetOmmm
She had incredible power and wielded it.

On edit...I am also hoping that she is a dumb as the proverbial doorknob and will show once again, how this sociopath administration hires idiots.

3. You can bet your ass that she's had crying-on-demand lessons....
It fits PERFECTLY into the "The Democrats are on a mean, partisan campaign" theme that Dubya's been selling...

4. I hope she wears a blue dress
Monica is an incompetent buffoon. A graduate of Regents University, a two bit holding bin for future gop administration staffers. The bitch said, in so many words, if I tell the truth, I'll go to jail. I hope the tears flow from her cute little christian eyes when she is forced to tell the truth; apparently the only way one gets a christian conservative republican to tell the truth.

7. Doesn't a good Christian HAVE to tell the truth?
I mean, isn't there something about bearing false witness with a Thou Shalt Not in front of it?

Shouldn't someone in the gallery have a sign with that or something?

14. I am incredibly confused about that issue
and the over the top value that christian conservatives in a republican administration place on "testifying under oath." bush doesn't want rove to testify under oath. I interpret that as meaning if he is not under oath and does not tell the truth, no big deal, after all he is a republican. My hate is rational.

5. The corporate media and her attorneys may frame the story that way; but a woman
in her early thirties is far to old to be given a pass on criminal behavior. She is part of the "law and order" crowd which demands that CHILDREN be tried as adults for their crimes.

I agree, though, that an attempt will be made. Not since little Miss Muffet will there have been a more sympathetic, innocent, young victim.

8. Bring plenty of tissues...
This is going to be the Wuthering Heights of congressional testimony.

"'All I ever wanted to do was serve this president and this administration and this department,'" Goodling said during a March 8 conversation, according to Associate Deputy Attorney General David Margolis.

During the 30- to 45-minute encounter, Goodling proceeded "to bawl her eyes out" and repeat the phrase, Margolis said.

She went on to "cry more, and more, and more, and more and more," Margolis recalled…

Poor sweet thing.

10. I think that would demonstrate that she's not stable enough for a job with that responsibility.
It would demonstrate very poort judgment on the part of those who hired her and supported her.

And she should want to "serve this country, the Constitution, and the department". That would be her job.

This whole "personality cult" of these obsessive people is really frightening.

Crying is her last defense...

9. If She Betrays The Evil Empire...
Watch her be turned into some coniving shrew. It all depends on what she says.

I expect the Mighty Wurlitzer to portray her as a lost little girl, but that act only goes so far as her revealing who said what or did what.

Think about this...Conyers and many others on that panel were there during the Clinton inquisition and Schipper/Hyde's zeal to get Lewinski to testify and how that backfired. They're surely sensitive to backlash if they are too rough on her and that their consuls would already have prepped them on where to go and how best to deal with her.

13. based on very recent democratic behavior
based on very recent democratic behavior, she'll get sworn in and the dems will say; "y'know, monica, you seem like a very nice person and we've changed our minds on interrogating you. You are free to go. Thanks for your time and our apologies for the inconvenience.

16. Naah -- she'll wait until it gets close to the big stuff
She will put on a brave face until the questioning gets close to real trouble -- putting her in a position where she has to choose between prison and being destroyed by the Washington Babylon.

When the tears flow, you'll know they found their "money spot".

Considering that she has already negotiated some major immunity agreements, her impending burning at the stake will have to proceed without lighter fluid.

Funny. The Religious Right thinks nothing of promoting "discipline" where small children are whipped until their skin is a mass of welts -- but they're orchestrating turning a 30-year-old woman with considerable political power into the imago of Shirley Temple being threatened by the evil Rajah of Baksheesh with a spanking. The psychodramas of these people are not just astounding, they're downright creepy.

None the less, she is an attorney who has been admitted to the bar. If she broke the law and subverted the Constitution, let the appropriate punishment be meted out. Three years in a white-collar federal hoosegow is not exactly "extraordinary rendition". She should be so lucky to face the wrath of Daddy's switch in the woodshed.

15. The media has strict instructions to not push any story about the attorney purge
This story will get very little play just as all the attorney purge stories in the past have gotten.
