ABC breaks story of Bush authorization for covert action and Freepers respond
Here's the story:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/05/bush_authorizes.html

"The CIA has received secret presidential approval to mount a covert "black" operation to destabilize the Iranian government, current and former officials in the intelligence community tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com."

And here is how we know the freepers are responding:

David Reid misunderstood and thought we were opening trade negotiations:
"If it was a secret, it isn't any longer. I will turn off ABC News and never watch again.

I consider ABC News Traders to the United States"

Philip R. Cramer says:
"Seems you & the media will go to any extreme to show you bias agains the Bush Administration. Revealing classified operations is consorting with the enemy. I hope you can live with your tresonous actions!!!!!!"

concerned thinks Mr. Ross' stories are "obsured". How obsured.:
"Not so secret anymore is it? This is why more than half of the stories Brian Ross reports are obsured. If it's so secret how'd did your team get the scoop? Secondly, if it is true, you should be arrested for espionage."

At least Tim has learned to spell "morons":
"I hope they do destabelize the government of Iran. The stoy would be if you had suggestions for readers to HELP you morons!"

Margie Davis thinks that the President should put a stop to that pesky first amendment:
"ABC News: Please stop helping our enemys. I don't understand why you would tell our business to everyone in the world. Mr. President can't we stop this reporting???"

Susan H. has a point here....somewhere:
"Wouldn't we rather be fighting a covert war to destabilze Iran than a war in the streets? If we were fighting a war in the streets in cities of Iran ABC would be bringing us the "dreadful" news every night."

stephen is, well, a little miffed:
"who thinks abc news and others are part to blame for our soliders being killed for leaking to m u c h information.. think about it, dont you think the bad guys watch and read this crap?"

stephen hare gives me pause. I'm not sure whether he is kidding or not:
"we want responsible news networks like fox news!!!!!!!! they would never stoop this low."

Nicole thinks we all live in latte land:
"To anyone condoning ABC's action in reporting this story citing constitutional rights and freedom... I could ALMOST agree with you if we were in a DRAFT situation like Vietnam. At that time, men were FORCED to participate in the war. Today, you have BRAVE men and women CHOOSING to defend your country, your freedoms. Don't they deserve safety? While you sit and blog, thanking the press from your comfy desk or cafe laptop, take a moment to think outside of your latte land. Each day out there may be their last, and stories like this don't improve the odds. Think before you speak."

Finally, I have to agree with David Lemieux here:
"Oh GOD! What do we do!!?? The Iranians knew nothing of our covert doings until YOU, ABC, decided it was fitting to foil our entire destabilization strategy. Let us, the real Americans, rise up with the force of Jehovah's thunder and take back our most holy country from the depraved media who seeks to destroy us with their treason, lies, and rap music. Grrrr. *side note* I almost posted this as is until I realized, unfortunately, that a slim majority of folks on here wouldn't sense the sarcasm."

10. From surfing around the web...
And going to some places that attract the right and the young, I have noticed that proper spelling and grammer is a dying skill. To the point of near-incomprehensible gibberish. I mean stuff that reads like the writings of a person in the midst of a psychotic break from reality.

I have read some of those writings, I might add, while on team meetings regarding psychiatric assessment for referral. Real "danger to him/herself or others" content.

Trust me: There are quite a few ticking timebombs posting openly on the web.

I wonder how many freeper heads would explode if someone posted that Bush was a free trader?

28. Not to mention we have been mostly trying to destabelize the
government of Iran for the past 50 years. We were doing this in the 1950s. Yet the Iranians only just found out about it from ABC?

Are these comments from FreeRepublic or TownHall?

The fact remains, Seymour Hersch reported this weeks ago. Even KO discussed this right after Hersch's columns. It's OLD news.

ABC is playing catch up and the cons go ballistic! *yawn*

15. Unfortunately the 25-Percenters are from the ABC blotter reponses.
The 25% lurk everywhere.

Did you know that 1 in 4 people is actually a 25-Percenter? Yes, the chilling fact is that 1 in 4 people have all the traits of being a 25-Percenter. Signs to watch for:

Bad Spelling
Fuzzy thinking ranging from: Vaguest Idea to Clueless.
Myopic loyalty to a fatally flawed leader.
Unyeilding, unwavering belief that they are right because X (God, President, Rush) said so.

If you run into a 25-Percenter, do not approach them. They can be rabidly dangerous (in an ineffectual sort of way) when cornered. You don't want them to hurt themselves thinking or to damage their fragile psyches by challenging their brittle and, ultimately, insubstantial belief system.

Just make low, soothing noises and without making any sudden movements, turn on a non-threatening, non-challenging TV show to distract the entirety of their cognitive processes..something like....The Teletubbies

9. It seems the dumbasses completely missed the propaganda money shot in this "leak"
Officials say the covert plan is designed to pressure Iran to stop its nuclear enrichment program and end aid to insurgents in Iraq.

Just another way to drum up support for the PNAC-ordered invasion of Iran.

14. What would it take for these people to understand they're not watching news?
It's stunning, when ANY non-pro-Bush story brings cries of outrage and "liberal media," STILL. What will it take? What's really comical, they don't even get that FOX News is the ONLY channel broadcasting pro-Bush 24/7, but that somehow means every other newscast is biased! They really are flat-out stupid people. They won't be happy until every anchor is dressed in American flags and reporting nothing but stories about persecuted Christians and missing white girls. THAT apparently is the mark of a "real" news broadcast. The rest is just lib'rul propaganda.

I like Nicole's answer because she obviously isn't just snarky, she's a student of Critical Thinking. In a DRAFT, soldiers don't have a choice about being sent to fight a war.

But with an illegal preemptive attack by a Coalition of the Wobbly, the other kuntrys soljers drop out and leave our US soljers to CHOOSE to return for 3 and 4 tours of duty while their famileez homeside go to food banx.

I feel so stoopid.

30. Have these fools considered the problems of destabilizing

an oil producing OPEC member?

Granted, the US doesn't get their oil from Iran, but who does? The name of the country begins with a "C."

Iran is 4 times the size of Iraq. It has a military that has fought in a recent war, and if I am not mistaken the ability to attack Israel and our precious fleet in the Persian Gulf. It's not that the fleet can't defend itself, but potentially they could be fish in a barrel.

You all know the old saying. Be careful of what you wish for. You just might get it.

It seems that these fools want to hasten on the end times. If Jayzuz won't do it for then then I guess that they want to take matters into their own hands.
