The more CO 2 in a body of gas the more heat it will hold .. this was proven over 200 years ago .... something about "the gas laws."

They have to devote far too much time coming up with endless amounts of data, archives and so on (see the pernicious campaign by the Virginia Attorney General for an example) when they ought to be doing the urgent climate science. So the end result is delays - which is just what the oil companies etc. want.
And I fear that the Republicans think they have found enough gullible voters that they're not concerned about looking bad when they question 200 year old science. After all, they don't worry about questioning evolution.
