2. Why would anyone think that?
First of all, there is no such thing as a republican moderate. There are conservatives (the minority of the party), fundie loons, authoritarian militarist fascists and right-wing supply-side greedheads. No moderates in the GOP.

Thompson seems like a mix of greedhead and militarist to me, and he is a royal asshole as a human being to boot.

6. I thought that persona was of a deeply conservative figure
who nonetheless somehow managed to not have that completely destroy his respect for the rule of law while serving as a district attorney.

That's a low bar.

Never seen any of the Law & Order or CSI shows. I hate crime dramas.

5. Please do not think that this man is the roles that he plays
He is not a Navy Officer- that was Hunt For Red October.
He is not a Law and Order candidate- that's a TV SHOW- Law and Order

If we think that he is who he plays in tv and movies, we are dumb sheeple that need to elect a man who's co-star was a monkey.....whoops, we already did that.

9. If people base their opinion on the man from a freakin' TV show.
They're idiots. Which is why Freepers love to vote actors into office.

12. If he was suuuucccchhhh a good senator how come he didn't run
re-election. Because he knew he wouldn't get re-elected. So he quit. Guess that makes him a perfect choice for the republicans.
