The 2010 election happy news good fun time topic!
1. First, the obvious. Props to everyone at DU. The site ran swimmingly on what was almost certainly a high-stress, high-traffic night. Thanks to EarlG, Skinner, the mods, and our little hamster friends who run the server mill in some Freeper's mom's basement somewhere. All we need is a DU HateMail bag. There must be tons of funnny shit since the Teabuggers were spawned from the depths of Cheney's undisclosed location.

2. Progressive congressional stalwarts Raul Grijalva and Petter DeFazio both won tight races.

3. GOP fails to make any sort of breakthrough in New England, save for gaining back a bit of ground in New Hampshire and winning through vote-splitting (aka state Dems too stupid to implement IRV) in Maine. This was offset by gubernatorial losses in Vermont and Rhode Island.

4. Democrats held UT-02 by a 7 point margin. There's hope yet for those people.

5. Democratic DOMINANCE in Massachusetts, California, and Colorado.

6. Watching the GOP landslide ebb before reaching the Senate because stupid Teatards stole defeat from the jaws of victory in Delaware, Colorado, and Nevada.

7. Democrats took back the governor's mansions in Hawaii and California. Don Carcieri, the hateful bigot who vetoed visitation rights for same-sex partners, is no longer a problem in Rhode Island, as progressive ex-GOP Lincoln Chafee beats out a DINO and some anonymous Repuke. How the fuck that asshole ever got elected is beyond me. Dems will also likely take Vermont and Minnesota back. My apolitical stoner friends are a bit disappointed about Vermont for obvious reasons though. :P

8. SPECATCULAR Hispanic turnout in the West.

1. The Ammendments that passed in Florida
Ammendments 5 & 6 passed with over 60% (Fair Districts)

Ammendment 8 did not pass - this means that the schools havs to keep the original Class Size Ammendment in place (smaller class sizes)

3. We need state-level mixed-member proportional for Congress...
It would eliminate redisctricting pressures.
