Senator Dan Coats (R-IN) making some reasonable comments about filibuster on NPR earlier
Disclaimer: I am in NO WAY a fan/supporter of Coats nor did I vote for him nor would I EVER consider voting for him.

However.....................

Listening to him on NPR today, however, and the interviewer asked him about the filibuster and how it used to work when he was previously in the Senate (1990-1998) and he actually stated that it's not been used correctly by his own party (particularly in terms of procedural votes) and that he supported having debates on everything that comes up in the Senate from either side and for "up-or-down" votes. Yeah, he's a Republican and may sing a different tune come January when he's in office and under Mitch's thumb but he is more of an "old school" Republican (which only goes to show how far to the right they have moved) and seemed pretty sincere about what he was saying. Maybe he might be a helpful voice on the (R) side for filibuster reform.

5. I hope I'm not being naive in hoping that he might be sincere

I might well be.

It was just refreshing to hear something other than another load of right-wing BS coming out of the mouth of another Repuke after Tuesday's midterm elections.

6. I trust him about as far as I can throw him.
Never believe anything that comes out of a Repuke's mouth. He'll have to prove it to me by his actions.

Let's see if he lives up to his words.

Talk is cheap.
