I am just curious why we are detaining people at Las Vegas McCarran Airport for “border patrol”. Yoo hoo, Michelle Malkin, I know this little tidbit will make you wet yourself, but isn't immigration inspection and detainment at an inland airport for people flying in from other countries?

LAS VEGAS (AP) - About 100 people were detained in the first three days of stepped-up patrols by federal agents looking for illegal immigrants at McCarran Airport, an agent said Tuesday.

The enforcement push began Saturday and was expected to continue for several more days at the Las Vegas airport, said Agent Eric Anderson, a spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol regional office in Yuma, Ariz. It involved more than a dozen uniformed and undercover agents.

Anderson and an airport spokesman reported no injuries or resistance from people detained during the second enforcement operation this year at McCarran, the nation's sixth-busiest airport by passenger traffic....

A spokeswoman with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's Western regional office in Laguna Niguel, Calif., said several ICE agents were involved in the operation at McCarran. She said people who were detained were being taken to a Border Patrol station in Blythe, Calif.
