Bomb Threat Knocks Randi Rhodes Off The Air

by Edgewater Joe
Fri Nov 05, 2010 at 02:38:39 PM PDT

If you're listening to Randi somewhere, you'll notice there is now a repeat of the show from a day or two ago. That's because about 20 minutes ago her control booth in L.A. brought up a conversation involving a bomb threat - and did so in the middle of a commercial, which was extremely unusual.

The back-and-forth between Randi and the engineers stated that there was a bomb threat received in the Los Angeles building and that they were putting on a best-of set for the rest of the afternoon, which they did.

I never listened to a show that interrupted itself like it did, but on a day with a lot of other stuff breaking, add this to the fire.

Hopefully others will be able to contribute what they hear about this as news develops ...

1. In a situation like that, I wouldn't have blamed her for not getting back on the air to explain.
Just. Get. Safe.

2. Cue the righties who will claim "Dems do it, too" in 4, 3, 2, 1....
Because, you know, that will totally excuse everything.

How much you wanna bet he feels this is what Uncle Rush and Uncle Glenn wanted him to do?

7. God I hate that "Dems do it too" BS
I asked somebody once to give me an example of that.

After an uncomfortable pause, he said Squeaky Fromme.

Seriously. Squeaky Fromme.

That's all he could come up with but , "there are a lot more, I just can't think of them right now."

8. Right. They can't think of them because they don't exist.
Meanwhile, there's a long list of crazy, violent, unhinged right-wingers who have committed political terrorism.

5. If they hadn't won, it would be even worse.
Does the phrase "2nd Amendment solutions" ring a bell?

11. It probably is, but this is more a "celebration".
If they'd lost on Tuesday they'd be even angrier than usual.

6. Funny there is no other source running a story of a bomb threat at a radio studio for anyone.

10. Randi's bldg in LA is also home to RW stations ... sentencing in SF case
went down today (cop only got 2 years for shooting a
guy in SF subway) so maybe it's related to that.
Local LA groups were holding vigils and hoping for
no violence but ... ?

13. Huh! I heard the first two hours of her show and
it was all about Keith Olbermann being fired. I wonder who she pissed off, the CEO of MSNBC and should he be making bomb threats?
