Bush's "food bully" favourite to take over at World Bank
Ain't it grand? we go from a guy that played a major role in making Iraq the clusterfuck it is today who takes over the World Bank vowing to clean up the corruption and the first thing he does is hire his girlfriend. now we have a dude who has an agenda that just happens to be making money for monsanto and big-ag which pretty will guarantee that more poor people go hungry, stay in debt and spend their lives as virtual slaves for multi-nat corporations. no wonder he was appointed to lead the World Bank.

Bush's "food bully" favourite to take over at World Bank
(23/5/2007)

GM Watch comment: With Paul Wolfowitz on the way out at the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, the former U.S. trade representative, has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed him as the Bank's president.

Zoellick was, of course, the man who drove the U.S.'s WTO case against the E.U. on GM food - a policy brilliantly picked apart in the article below by political analyst Conn Hallinan, provost at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Hallinan's analysis should ring alarm bells given that it makes clear that the policy Zoellick was ruthlessly pursuing was ultimately about strong-arming developing countries to toe the Bush line.

3. You just know Bush will pick the worst possible candidate for the job
Bush is from backwards values world. Just think of the very opposite of the kind of person who should run the World Bank and that will of course be Bush's choice, as it has been his choice in every other position, from the Vice President, to Bremer in Iraq, to the UN, to the Department of Justice, etc.
