Attention! I propose we change the name of this site to the ANTI-WAR UNDERGROUND. |
|
Yeah, it might have something to do with my neighbor's kid getting killed in Iraq on Friday. Yeah, it might have something to do with the Democratic Congress' capitulation this week.
I've been a lifelong Yellow-Dog Democrat. But we need to send a message to Reid, Pelosi and the other cowards. Just maybe they would take notice if our little bit of superfluous band-with rejected them.
And maybe John Edwards will form an Anti-War party and win the election.

|
people being killed in Iraq, in a war Edwards supported with not only his vote, but his sponsorship.

He did plenty to get 'em there in the first place.
I WILL NOT vote for someone who SPONSORED the IWR--when that was politically expedient--and now opposes the war--which is the current expedient position. I'll bet he's in favor of moms and apple pie, too.

I was going to add that John Edwards wouldn't be allowed and that would be fine by me!! Neither would HRC or Biden.
It was a good thread until you bought into political expedience.

19. I Am So Sorry For The Family Of That Kid |
|
I just found out my cousin is going to Iraq in a week and a half. By the way, his dad died six days ago in a tragic farm accident. He was going to try and get a delay, but the last I heard, that wasn't looking too good. I learned at this young man's funeral, from an aunt that her grandchild hadspent 3 years in Iraq (2 tours), and she was so worried about "Jeremy" going. I said, "Yeah, maybe they should delay it about 10 years," and my aunt agreed with that. She is so worried for this fine young man. So am I. I plan to have my students write him (I always make this optional, and I always get 100% participation), and I will send him goodies too. Mostly, I just wish I could send him a safe return home. For me, when Murtha was strong-armed out, and Hoyer was shoved in, I had a strange sense of forboding. Looks like i was right.

21. As much as I hate change, I do like this title. |
|
I don't see it happening, but I do feel very comfortable with it, in the context of the ongoing situation in the world today. But Good Lord Willing, we will change this very soon, and then the title will be obsolete. Then perhaps we can call ourselves The Happy and Optimistic Above-Grounders.
And wouldn't that be great??

34. Reid and Pelosi are not cowards |
|
Bush is the only one keeping this war going and no one can force an irrational person to stop what they are doing. Reid and Pelosi tried, but when it comes down to it, there isn't much that can be done. If you want to blame someone, blame Bush, he's the only one at fault.

we needed something like 15 Republican Senators and 60 Republican Representatives to over-ride Bush's veto. So the elected Republicans are still against the American people. Plus, there are still the media shills bashing the Democrats for even trying to end the war. One wrote a syndicated column in our local paper today.

there could be people who are anti-war but right-wing on everything else, and I don't really want this to become Right-Wingers-So-Long-As-You're-Against-the-War Underground.
For the rest, it's not really up to me. Not being American, I'm not a Dem: I just think that it would be better for the world if a more liberal individual becomes president in 2008, and in the real world that's more likely to be a Dem.
