Poll question: Will you join the boycott of 4 pharmacy chains to pressure them to repeal/replace Medicare Part D
Will you join the boycott of 4 GOP contributing pharmacy chains to pressure them to get conservatives in congress to repeal/replace Medicare Part D ?

If you will then please go to http://medicare.dmocrats.org then make 4 toll free phone calls. Not hard to do eh?

1. Wow, not much room in that poll, is there?
The link doesn't sell me, sorry.

The print is small, the exhortations are dramatic but they don't spell out the issue compellingly, and I am left well...

UNCONVINCED.

That's not to say that there's no merit in all this, all I am saying is it didn't move me. I wasn't "sold" by this presentation.

2. I imagine you appear a tough sell in other matters as well.
Medicare Part D appears a ripoff to middle class retired and disabled people. The people with low income already had full medication coverage in Medicaid and the Republicans took 22 million low income people and hijacked them into part D and made them pay a copayment for their medications for the first time, but then claimed they helped 22 million people who already had help, so they could hide the fact that millions of other middle class income retired and disabled people who did not have coverage of medication would get a meager benefit.

It appears too much to make some toll free phone calls? hmmmppph.

6. Did you read what I wrote? I didn't say the effort did not have merit.
But I'm telling you my honest opinion about the link. The presentation SUCKS. The print is small, I read and read, and it sounds like someone has a gripe about certain pharmacies, but I don't see why without straining my eyes on, and on, and on...with no payoff--I'm a surfer, I'm outta there.

Now, you just, in TWO SENTENCES (the second one is a bit run-on, but cut it into two sentences and you have a winner) EXPLAINED the issue.

That link you provided should have you write their copy. In large type, with three simple sentences arranged as attention getting talking points, with the details below.

You did a good job of defining the issue and explaining your objection. The link didn't do that. That is all I am saying.

Don't hummmmmph at me. Find the person who can fix that website. I'm offering you sincere, constructive criticism. That's all.

4. Which four chains?
A little more info in your post would have been nice. Then we wouldn't have to click through to find out what the heck you're talking about.

14. Why exactly are these Pharmacy chains the target?
What does their lobbyist focus target? How can this pressure evoke change? What about the Pharmaceutical Companies instead of the retail distributors?

7. I imagine that those who won't call these chains don't mind
that some middle class people who can't afford expensive medication will die because of this ripoff of a prescription drug plan.

9. The Medicare prescription drug bill is a rip off.
But, who are the Liberal Democrats? I haven't heard of that group. I buy at Costco so I have no problem with the boycott of Walmart, CSV, Walgreen and the other pharmacy.

11. No can do.
Walgreens is the only pharmacy around here that will carry one of the medications I'm on. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

If it makes you feel better, I get my other two meds from a different place. However, that place sucks in many ways, too.

I do the best I can do.

12. Did you read the website http://medicare.dmocrats.org ?
It tells you what to do if you appear stuck with a particular pharmacy. Call them any way and tell them. They don't know you from Adam. Then get your medication there but don't buy any consumer items there.

15. I forget, are you the same poster who
asked us to boycott and call our local Exxon gas station and tell them we refuse to buy gas from their store anymore -- as a way to get gas prices down?

Sorry, there's no many on DU sometimes I get folks confused and I'm just trying to remember if that was you.
