When Bush* asked for his tax cuts virtually every Democrat voted NO

They had to be passed with Reconcillation, Now Democrats are for those very same tax cuts, what changed? Are they now suddenly good for America. Were we horribly wrong then or are we wrong now? Those Tax Cuts can be shown to have had a direct effect upon moving America from good healthy surplus to very deep (record) Deficits. So why have Democrats changed their minds? :shrug:

We were also in a deep recession.. Every single Republican repeated the LIE that you can not raise taxes during a recession. Clinton's Budget was passed and those taxes were raised... America went on to experience the "Greatest Economic Expansion in History". Now do we want to repeat that LIE that you can't raise taxes during a recession? And according to those that monitor such things, the recession actually ended early this year...We currently are not in a recession..

8. I'm going to argue that the economic situation that we are in now

is much, much worse than when either Bush or Clinton were in office--the housing crisis and unemployment are simply much worse. I don't think that's deniable. Therefore, I can understand the impulse to allow the tax cuts to be extended for now (for the bottom 98%). They weren't a good idea, but the Republicans were betting that once taxes were cut, there'd be resistance to raising them ever again (despite being "temporary"), and they were right.

Gee, do you really expect millionaires and billionaires to spend because they have a few thousand dollars more? And if it's for creating jobs, well, why didn't the cuts produce jobs over the last 10 years?
