How could they not, it isn't as if we have not been calling and writing and hollering about all of this.

3. I think you are right.
I think they were more worried about being called cut and run dems - or not supporting the troops.

They had no idea that their base was going to hold their feet to the fire.

Hillary and Obama may have been smart to wait this out before committing. We'll see.

4. If you listen to Chris Mathews to find out what's going on
you'll never know what's really going on. And I think a lot of these politicians Dems as well as the asshole party do just that. I'm imagining the consternation that must be
going on in the Hillary Clinton camp as they take in the anger they're hearing from potential primary voters.

Either way I find it really insulting that they thought we would even buy their lame excuses.

11. We walk the precincts.
We register new voters. We do the thankless, anonymous work. The leadership really needs us. TV ads get their names out to the public. We make sure people get to the polls and can vote once they get there. We are the backbone of the party. The leadership had better start paying attention to us. They can't pay someone to talk to my neighbors the way I can. The party leaders need to stop and think about the price of ignoring our opinions.

bending their ears, and they get REAL forgetful that there are REAL people out here doing the work, and casting the votes. They are just so accustomed to the game that "whoever gets the most $$, WINS!!!" They really do think that every dollar they raise is a vote.

Diebold has news for all of us.

6. I've heard and read that the reason they did this was that they are
afraid of the 30 second soundbites against them from the opposition. That is such bullshit, if that indeed is the reason. They should be much more afraid of what the people on their side of the political spectrum think! And we are NOT happy!!

The administration is trying to get up to 200000 troops there by the end of the year. The administration believes it will be more difficult to leave if they do that. It is time for the Democrats to do their job before this whole gets deeper

19. Or maybe they need to play it this way to get our hackles up..
Initially they steered away from impeachment, I think because they were having a hard time getting to the evidence that was under big fat rethug asses.

So, if they show that they have tried it through due process in the Senate and got nowhere, then it gives them more reason to investigate the prez who blocks them at every turn.

Anyway, with our apparent disappointment so obvious to the now, maybe now would be a good time to demand impeachment again.

23. All I know, is that any member of Congress that votes for this bill doesn't deserve to be there or
any other elected role in the US Government....

I am so disgusted I could scream at the top of my lungs right now....How Pelosi, Reid and all the rest of the Dems didn't know how the 72% of this country would feel about the bill if it didn't include timelines for pull-out out of Iraq, then they are seriously, seriously out of touch.

Bush may have started this War, the GOP have cheerleaded it and rubber-stamped it, but now, the Dems, instead of saying "No More", are officially enablers, which means that they now OWN the War!

I think this will go down as the day the Dems lost a lot of supporters....Whoever is running for President tommorrow and votes for this bill, can say goodbye to their Presidential Bid....I certainly won't vote for anyone who does vote for this bill.

25. If reasonable alternatives don't work, populations turn to
other solutions to end arrogance of an elite. There is no reason we have to continue to play by the rules of a failed political system and there is no reason we can't turn to other ideologies to purge away the corruption and the arrogance. I don't think those Beltway degenerates quite understand the danger of this.

30. yeah, I'm big-time p.o'd
working on a letter to send off - but I have to calm down a bit and do some "editing" on it to remove the *@^^&!!!

meanwhile - just tossing this thought out.

It's not only the Dems who are going to get blasted by their constituents over the Memorial Day break - it's also the republics

Could there be some careful timing involved with the funding bill and the holiday? Think about it - a congress critter returns to their home district, attends some Memorial Day function, makes a speech about supporting the troops, remembering those who died for freedom and is immediately surrounded by angry constituents. A face-to-face chewing out has more of an impact than an e-mail/fax/phone call.

Remember the outrage that pelted them over Dubai? The story broke, a few days later there was a Congressional break - and it was a big about face when the congress critters returned to DC

We may see a different tune being sung by more than one Congress critter after the holiday

Maybe they don't know how mad everyone is and it is wrong for us to think that screaming on a forum is actually getting to our representatives.

I really think we need to make a real effort at letting them know how pissed we all are.

Here is Nancy Pelosi's contact information again and any other suggestions would be great.

38. For so long now
people paid little attention to most of what was being done in Washington and operated on idea that we elected them they will do what's right. Along comes the disaster known as The Bu$h Admin and a whole lot of people, thanks to the internet, etc are starting to pay attention. That's especially true on the Dem side, people are waking up. Reid and Pelosi better start recognizing that "we the people" are watching and will have a say in everything they do.

Yes, the anti-war movement is outraged. But I don't see any sign of a "backlash" from the electorate in general, or even the bulk of the Democratic party membership.

Put another way, if the the bulk of the Democratic party membership is so outraged by the funding vote, why is Kucinich still doing so badly in the polls?
