Democrats could own a Baghdad summer of hell
If Congress, led by the Democratic leadership, extends the Iraq war at full speed through September, I worry they will unleash a very ugly summer of bloodletting in Baghdad and beyond.

Rather than understand that U.S forces will now be leaving, every major player in the Iraq war will be gearing up to make their own military point by September, when the issue will presumably be re-visited.

The U.S. will surge and re-surge and double-dog-dare-surge. Gen. Petraeus will let loose everything he has - grasping at an unachievable victory - now that his name is associated with the grand plan.

The Shia, the Sunnis, Blackwater, Iran, the Kurds, even the Saudis now have all summer to press their fight at the fullest throttle. Ding. Last round. Give it everything ya got. Rather than say the party's over, Congress may now be setting off one last orgy of war, worse than any we have yet seen in this conflict.

I pray I am wrong. But if I'm not, the Democrats who vote to unleash this final round will soon be in possession of their very-own Summer of Hell. Own it.

2. The fact of the matter, is that the Amis can't put down the insurgeny ,
regardless of the number of troops they throw into battle.

This idea a victory is possible through force is absurd.
