Biden: We HAVE to fund the war....to "SUPPORT" the troops
"I believe as long as we have troops in the front line, we're going to have to protect them," said Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del. "We're going to have to fund them."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070524/ap_on_go_co/us_iraq

Just like he "had" to support the credit card companies with his bankruptcy bill vote. What a sorry Republican-light DLC creation he is.

1. Ah, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Believing that craven capitulation will get him the White House? Biden is one of the reasons for this horrid betrayal.

2. Biden says he will support the Democratic capitulation even
though he disagrees with it. This is classical mugwump - mug on one side and wump on the other. Dodd is forthright and says he will not vote to issue Bush any blank checks. We'll soon know how the other candidates stand (or bow.)

After four years of disaster, the American people know that the way to support the troops is to bring them home alive NOW.

5. Yes, because SUPPORT means keeping them there forever, not coming home.
That's an odd definition of support, if you ask me.

7. How can anyone take this clown seriously?
So long as the troops are there, we have to keep passing the war funding.

But so long as we keep passing the funding, the WH will keep the troops there.

Great thinking, Joe.

What an imbecile.

11. This is why we always lose. We adopt their talking points as facts.
The whole absurd idea that if we de-fund the war it will "leave troops in the field without any equipment", is total bullshit.

Taking away King George's money is not EVER going to translate into our soldiers having to hand in their weapons and armor, and just go hungry as they swim back to America.

That is a right-wing meme, and it's pathetic that just about EVERY prominent Democrat plays right into it.

running in our presidential primary.

Let's count them:

HRC
Edwards
Biden
Richardson

That's half.

Scary, isn't it?

Maybe not for DU. What would really happen if Congress did what DU wants? Why is everyone so sure there is no risk there? The mass of the public has been thoroughly brainwashed on sacred cow status for the troops.

32. I agree--I wish we hadn't caved so quickly, and that's my beef with
Dems in Congress--makes us look like a folding card table. But, if public perception is that Dems, and not Chimpy, are denying troops needed money/equipment, we are screwed, now and in '08. And knowing how our media leans, that WILL be the public's perception.

42. Can't they still do that?
I recall Hillary started a bill to undeclare the war.

And the advantage of that would be not tying it to "supporting the troops" as the right wing media would surely have it.

We're being ignored. They expect we'll just vote for them anyway. We'll get over it by the '08 election. All will be forgotten by then. Who cares what the VOTERS want...we know best.:grr:
