I just can't shake this horrible guilt.
Every day I sit in my patio, making art, listening to music, checking on my garden -- peaceful, serene, and racked with guilt when I think of all the MILLIONS of lives that have been altered by MY government with MY tax dollars in MY name.

I feel like one of the townspeaple at Buchenwald or Auschwitz who knew what was happening in the death camps and continued merrily on with their lives.

I've fought what I felt was the good fight for over 30 years just to watch The Great Experiment go down in flames WITH THE HELP of the people that we elected to help us save it.

I'm just feeling overwhelmingly helpless these days.

1. Don't feel guilty. Just the positive vibe of you making art ,listening
to music and especially gardening will help spread enlightenment.

3. You've said what I've been feeling for months.
I sit here and listen to the birds on a beautiful Spring day and feel very grateful for the serenity I have found but I can't shake the same guilty feeling. Also, after 30+ years of "fighting the good fight" and still working everyday to end this madness, I fear that what we've lost cannot be recovered and that we've left an awful mess to our children.

4. That's because you're distant
We all are. That's why we're helpless.

Now, if we were all hopeless, then we might actually start doing something. Then we maybe wouldn't pay those taxes because we hope if we can just build one more school, the system will change. We have to stop the machine first, then we can think about not having to live with the guilt.

5. Me too Le Taz. I feed my chickens and tend my
little 30 acres of heaven in a world that make me sick. I protested the Vietnam war and was sure that by 2000 there would be no more
wars. How wrong I was. My heart is so heavy and I too feel helpless...

7. I walk every morning & not one morning goes by
that I don't think of the women & children in Iraq who cannot go out & walk safely in their towns. They cannot just run to the market to get something. They cannot stand on a street corner & have a conversation with a neighbor. I pass youngsters on their way to school & remember that many Iraqi children no longer go to school because it is not safe.

I am disgusted with the democratic party right now. I feel that I have very little representation in my government & I am outraged at what they are doing in my name with my tax dollars. I, too, feel helpless.

8. There's nothing to feel guilty about.
Did you vote for the warmongers?

Did you not protest the war before and during?

Okay then. There has always been injustice and killing in the world.

How is kicking yourself going to make it any better?

We were put on this earth to learn, to love, and to be HAPPY. We are only here for a brief moment, so please don't waste it on an emotion as pointless as guilt for the deaths of people you didn't know, at the hands of people you probably didn't know.

Realizing that the invasion was and is wrong, and goading your congressment to do the right thing is the best ANY Of us can do at this point.

SO DON'T FEEL GUILTY! 'Kay?

9. You have to live, or else you die
You care. Don't deny yourselves the comforts that keep you going to fight on. Politics, like art & music, is there to enrich our lives and improve the world. They go together.
