More on the Rosie-Twit incident; Alicia Silverston totally snubs Elizabeth.
LOL! This is priceless. I don't know if vid is online of this part of the show, but they're showing it on CNN. If you've seen the clip of the fight, you'll know the fill-hill host kept trying to calm things down by joking about Dancing With The Stars, and their next guest, Alicia Silverstone. Now they're showing the Silverstone clip. She walks onstage, towards Elizabeth who puts her arms out for the cursory welcome embrace, and Silverstone does a total burn maneuver, walks right past without so much as an acknowledgement, hugs all the other hosts, then plunks down on the couch with her back to Elizabeth. YOUCH! She may be Clueless, and that may have been rude...but it sure was funny to watch!

2. Good for Alicia!
We cannot tolerate or ignore these people any longer. They are jeopardizing our future well being, and to tolerate them or excuse them because it's the "polite" thing to do is not acceptable.

We must face them down, call them the liars, hypocrites, bigots, and traitors that they are. THEN NOT BACK DOWN WHEN THEY COME BACK AT US. We just have to continue to smack them down for what they are.

Did you hear that, President Carter?

Nice. I think Silverstone has some thoughts of her own. I liked her silly lawyer show while it lasted.

BTW, was Elizabeth wearing her nightgown for the show?

11. I know I'm going to be in the minority here...
...but I thought it was unnecessarily mean.

I don't care much for Hasselbeck's views, but I don't despise her personally. She's not a politician with any power. She's a very young woman who has probably had a pretty sheltered life. My sense is that she doesn't know any better. Even Rosie shows her some warmth. It's not the rudeness that bothers me, it's the meanness. Silverstone must have known how outcast that would make Hasselbeck feel. I would have given her the obligatory hug, but then when the time came I would not hesitate to give her a piece of my mind. The View is not supposed to primarily be a political debate show. It's supposed to be a general interest show with an overall friendly tone.

If it was three righties who did that to the lone lefty, I'd feel the same way.

If this was a true villain - a Rumsfeld, a Cheney, a Bush, I would not hesitate to shun them - they have blood on their hands.

But Hasselbeck is no different than some of my dumber relatives who still support Bush in spite of everything. I let them know my opionions, but I would never treat any of them like that.

13. So if someone just totally smacked down a good friend
unnecessarily...you would be all huggy-faced and kissy-pie?
MMMmmm don't think so.
If that bitch Elizabeth wants to dish it out, she can sure as hell take it.
The Republicans have done EVERYTHING to divide this country...they are now reaping what they have sown.

14. "She's not a politician with any power"
I'm sorry but did you fail to notice that she has a bully pulpet on a popular daily broadcast tv show where she gets to spout her vile bullshit? She is a political operative with power. You are naive. The time for reaching out to meet intolerance half way is long over. The dead from this regime are piled high. Nobody gets a pass.

15. You are not alone...
I thought it was extremely rude and mean to act that way. If you disagree with someone's views you can have a discussion and state your own views. Having opposite views doesn't mean you should not have manners. I sure wouldn't want to be treated that way.

Well, we should still have manners, right?

24. The one who would say that at a dinner party is the one....
with no manners. That is not the same thing as what Silverstone did. It was rude and petty and makes Silverstone look bad and brings sympathy to Hasselbeck.

16. While all of that is true, if she never feels dissed she may never change.
Being dissed by someone she may admire may actually cause her to think about her own behavior, much more likely than trying to reason with her. It's not that she is a righty, she is a very rude person as well. She talks over people, she interrupts. A diss hits in the gut, it may actually get through to her.
Alicia may've been doing her a favor, if it connected.

Mammals have been using the diss from time immemorial to coach members of our communities, because it works.

19. I tend to agree. It was an obvious snub that made Silverstone look petty.
Far better to accept Hasselbeck's hand for a cursory greeting (but not a hug) and then embrace the rest. That would still send the message. On the other hand, there may be a back story between the two women and the preceding fight with Rosie just ticked off Silverstone even more.

12. Not only did Alicia Silverstone cut Elizatwit cold, I also noticed
that Joy Behar refused to look at her as well.

I would also love to know who dresses Elizatwit. That dress she had on her yesterday looked like something my late mother would of worn to a costume party...

I sometimes marvel at the shit I read here on DU. Yeah, if only the people on our side would be more pleasant to the enemy. Yeah, that's the ticket! We need to win them over as friends!

Oh puke!

That dumbass is using her national exposure to spew reich-wing talking points laced with hatred. If she can't handle the reaction she needs to STFU. Elections aren't the only things that have consequences.

perhaps if folks had to pay "the social price" for being dipshits they would think about their actions more.
