Iraq Vote Pledge & Other Actions to take .......... NOW!!!
Edited on Thu May-24-07 10:14 AM by Breeze54
Iraq Vote Pledge

I pledge to vote against every Senator and Representative who approves funding to continue the disastrous Iraq War.

We have already given far too much of our blood and treasure - and killed far too many Iraqis -
for a war based on lies. We are now occupying a hostile nation divided by civil war for the
benefit of military contractors and Big Oil.

The only way to support our troops is to bring them home NOW, and no funds should be used for
any other purpose. If Congress fails to bring our troops home, I will do everything I can -
and urge everyone I know - to defeat pro-war Senators and Representatives, both in my party's
primary elections and in the November general election.

Congress is set to vote within the next 48 hours to give Bush a blank check to pay for continued war and occupation.
It is unacceptable that the Democratic leadership has abandoned a timeline for ending the war in this new supplemental funding bill.

Call your Representative and Senators today at (202) 224-3121 and insist they stand up to Bush and vote against endless war!

Tell them:
Vote NO on the Supplemental funding bill. This money will only continue to support the war and occupation of Iraq.

Don't buy Bush's war!

Ask them:
How many more fallen soldiers will we have to mourn next Memorial Day?

From Howard Dean:

It reads like a Bush Administration Hall of Shame: Paul Wolfowitz, Michael Brown, Donald Rumsfeld, Scooter Libby.

Now Attorney General Alberto Gonzales may become the latest Administration official to leave office in disgrace.

America deserves better than what George Bush has given us.

Democrats in the House and Senate are busy holding Alberto Gonzales and the rest of his cronies accountable for seven years of failed leadership.

They're ready to cast a vote of no-confidence after years of the Bush Administration abusing its power.

Cast your own vote of no-confidence in the Bush Administration and make sure Democrats take back the White House in 2008:

WE'RE ASKING ALL OUR PARTICIPANTS TO TELL CONGRESS: DON'T SURRENDER TO BUSH ON IRAQ

Please call NOW toll free at 800-828-0498, 800-459-1887 or 800-614-2803 and ask for your own House member and Senators.

And ALSO leave separate messages for both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi at their leadership offices.

They represent you too!

SUBMIT THIS ACTION FORM TO CONTACT ALL YOUR CONGRESSPEOPLE & YOUR LOCAL PAPER AT ONCE:

Democrats have majorities in both houses of Congress. They have done little but surrender,
capitulate and surrender some more since the day we gave them those majorities. One of the
things we have heard is that they will attach the forgotten minimum wage increase now to
the new total surrender version of the Iraq Supplemental. Somebody please explain to us why
with a majority in both houses of Congress they could not have put the minimum wage provision
on the president's desk months ago.

Some say they will "seek other opportunities later this year to challenge Bush's handling of
the unpopular conflict." There will be other opportunities for gratuitous grandstanding. But
there will be few other opportunities for ending this insane occupation, short of impeachment
(itself a necessity), UNLESS the Democrats stick to their guns just one time.

If you want to make sure your message gets through, the one click form below will send your
personal message to both of your senators, with the subject "Don't surrender to Bush on Iraq."
At the same time you can send your personal comments only as a letter to the editor of your
nearest local daily newspaper if you like.

1. Rumor is they're going to hide the votes so the public won't know

5. Express your anger to Congress! Call theCongressional switchboard!! 202-224-3121
Edited on Thu May-24-07 10:31 AM by Breeze54
From: PDA ( Progressive Democrats of America )

There are only a couple ways Congress can end this bloody, unwinnable occupation in Iraq.
These do NOT include the approach of the Democratic leaders. That’s been a failure – as
they now stand ready to give Bush $95 billion more war funding through an Iraq Supplemental
bill that no longer has any timelines for troop withdrawal.

The final vote on the Iraq Supplemental is expected tomorrow in both the Senate and House.

Contact your Senators and member of Congress immediately (Capitol Hill switchboard is 202-224-3121).

Tell them NO BLANK CHECK for an occupation that the overwhelming majority of Iraqis and U.S. troops in Iraq want ended.

Tell Democrats that continued no-strings-attached funding means Iraq becomes the Democrats’ war.

Ask them if they oppose a troop escalation, why are they funding it in full?
Remind them of the only effective ways of ending the Iraq occupation:

1) Using the power of the purse to cut off funds to Iraq -- except those needed to safely withdraw
our troops (and for humanitarian/reconstruction aid to the Iraqi people).

2) Using their investigative power to probe White House deceptions and distortions that propelled
the Iraq invasion and occupation, and to impeach if necessary.

That Congressional switchboard number is 202-224-3121.

While distressed with Democratic leaders, PDAers know well that there are a number of stalwarts
in Congress who keep battling for peace and justice and a principled, progressive Democratic Party.

Rep. Raul Grijalva, a PDA Advisory Board member, issued this statement today:

"I have opposed funding this war from the beginning, and I have no interest in funding it now.
The previous supplemental, The Iraq Accountability Act, though flawed and at odds with many of
my beliefs, represented a chance for hope. It had represented a first, albeit tentative, step
in the difficult process of finally bringing this devastating war to an ultimate end….
But I cannot in good conscience support this new version of an Iraq war funding bill… a paper
tiger that will give the Administration an unfettered extension to this ill-conceived occupation,
and an implied sanction by this Congress of the war.”

Besides calling Senators and Congress members to vote NO on the Iraq Supplemental,
please contact your member of Congress and others to urge them to co-sponsor
H Res 333, Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Cheney.

Progressive Democrats of America is a grassroots PAC that works both inside the Democratic Party
and outside in movements for peace and justice. Our goal: Extend the victory of Nov. 2006 into
a permanent, progressive majority.
