1. You know, if they were smart, they would
go into a quorum call so that this would be broadcast on regular CSPAN.

3. If Gonzales was smart, he would have resigned already. Problem is
then the rule of law would be restored, the thumb would be pulled out of the dike, the flood would begin.

It is now inevitable anyway. What does all the stalling accomplish?

2. What's this supposed to accomplish?
The guy has committed crimes and saying 'no confidence' is the appropriate response? Why not impeach him? Why not arrest him?

14. You think this is a neccasary first step to impeachment and investigation?
If so then well okay. If it ends with this it's pretty lame.

15. It is the sum that adds up. This is an historic moment and a rarity
and may lead to resignation sooner. The object is to restore the rule of law ASAP. Let us not lose sight of that dire situation. Anything to revert to non-criminals in charge of Justice is a good idea, and the more things being done the better.

Meanwhile, Lady Liberty has her head under the guillotine.

11. Senate Sets Mid-June Vote on Gonzales
Senate Sets Mid-June Vote on Gonzales

President Bush said Thursday he would address any wrongdoing ... but added that new allegations have not swayed his support for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

"If there's wrongdoing, it will be taken care of," Bush told reporters .....

The Democrat-led Senate, meanwhile, scheduled a no-confidence vote on Gonzales in mid-June.

"It is the sense of the Senate that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales no longer holds the confidence of the Senate and of the American people," it reads. Chiefly sponsored by Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Dianne Feinstein of California ...

With five Republican senators having already called on Gonzales to step down and many more walking up to that rhetorical line, Schumer predicted the resolution would win at least the 60 votes required to beat a filibuster ...

Three Democratic Senators met on Capitol Hill Thursday to announce the formal introduction of their 'no confidence' motion ......

"We cannot allow a few people to be the fall guys when we know by all accounts that the Attorney General was directly involved in the process himself," Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said.

......

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who is co-sponsoring the bill, then listed a number of examples of wrongdoing and mismanagement ... revelations of politicized hiring .... She said it added up to show that Gonzales needed to quit.

"He is clearly not a strong leader in control of this large and critical department," added Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

The California Democrat proceeded to read off a list of editorials from newspapers around the country which called for the Attorney General's resignation.
......

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) agreed with Feinstein that Gonzales had done damage to the Justice Department....

".....it can't be put back on its feet while Attorney General Gonzales is in charge," the freshman Rhode Island Senator said. .....

108 House Democrats co-sponsor Gonzales 'no confidence' motion
Michael Roston

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/108_House_Democrats_cosponsor_Gonzales_no_0523.html

The number of Congress members co-sponsoring a vote of no confidence for the Attorney General mushroomed to 108 within 48 hours ..... seeking the legislative rebuke and subsequent resignation of Alberto Gonzales.

"The extraordinary support for this House resolution so soon after introduction reflects an emerging consensus in Congress and across the country: Mr. Gonzales should step down," said Rep. Schiff in a statement released to RAW STORY. "The Justice Department needs a strong and independent voice, and someone of unimpeachable credibility. We must reluctantly conclude that the current Attorney General does not fit the bill."

"I am encouraged that a steadily rising number of our colleagues want the House to assert itself in this debate, and I am pleased that they recognize that the institutional crisis at the Department of Justice demands a no confidence resolution," added Rep. Davis in the statement. .............
