In a country where liberty and justice are valued
a President like Bush wouldn't be tolerated.

In a country where human rights are applauded and considered a hallmark of your national character, a President like Bush would not be tolerated.

If America is any of those things - a free people who value liberty and justice - who believe human rights are bedrock to their principles, a nation where the people have a say in their government - then Bush would be ousted already...and since he's not I'm left to conclude

That Bush isn't as bad as I think he is...

So, I'm embracing a new way of thinking...

Bush can't be that bad or he'd be gone.

I feel better already.

1. Only Part of America Is Like That--and Therein Lies The Problem
I believe that we need to finish the Civil War--either defeat the fascists forever, or let them take a piece of the whole country for themselves and get them the hell out of our lives. They will destroy whatever piece they end up with, and their children and grandchildren, but we will not bear any legal, moral, or other responsibilty for it, nor the cost. And we can provide refugees (and ourselves) with a good life in a good government.

This isn't a new idea, but usually it's the fascists wanting to take over New Hampshire, or one of the Carolinas, or Alaska, or something. Let them have some contiguous area that we can be separated, and demonstrate that not all Americans are evil or equal, for that matter.

A competition (and their failure in it) might do more to convert opinion than any co-operative venture ever will.

4. I'm with you, Solly
I'm so tired of giving a shit. I'm weary from caring about our troops, and other people in the world, and poor people in this country, and whether or not this planet stays livable for future generations.... It's too agonizing to care so much, so I am going to stop.

I'm replacing my "Impeach W" and "Democratic Underground.com" bumper stickers with a red, white and blue "These Colors Don't Run" bumper sticker and maybe a "Freedom Isn't Free" one. And I might trade my small car in for a big gas guzzler.

Oh and I'm going to start shopping for a good fundie xian church; the first one that convinces me that IT teaches the ORTOW tradition (One Right True and Only Way), will get me as a member.

Once I make a few changes like this, I can relax and fall asleep,:boring:secure in the knowledge that Dear Fuhrer will save my family from terrorists, and Jesus will save me from everything else.

Wow. All my angst and anxiety is gone. Fuck everyone else--I am saved! :patriot:
