No Gas
MEQUON - Motorists are not the only ones protesting the high gasoline prices.

John Schwartz, the manager at Mequon’s Towne Market Mobil shut down the gas pumps at midnight Wednesday and will turn them back on at midnight Friday - all in an attempt to get the attention of the oil companies.

"If everyone gets together and doesn’t pump gas on Thursday, we can make a difference," Schwartz said. "It might work to send the message that this is not acceptable."

I wonder if this could be as potentially ineffective as motorists boycotting or if owners can see a different outcome, that is if it's a collective effort. How far could they go with something like this before the people start screaming?

1. Won't do any good.
He'll simply sell on Friday what he would have sold on Thursday. All he'll do is lose that day's income for himself, exactly as if he simply closes his business one day a week.

Other than getting Congress to pass some kind of windfall tax thing, there's almost nothing that can be done, as far as I can see, about the current high price of gas.

I simply drive as little as I realistically can. I drive a 2004 Honda Civic, so it's reasonably fuel efficient. I drive about five miles each way to work. No public transportation here. I only need to get gas about every three weeks, which means I have serious sticker shock each and every time I fill up.
