We are the Democratic Party

I am the Democratic Party. I grew up the son of two Democrats, who were the children of Democrats. In high school, I started the Democratic Club. In college, I was a member of the College Democrats. Since I was able to vote, I have voted solely for Democrats. In 2002, I dropped out of college to work for Chris Van Hollen, a true grassroots, progressive Democrat who has quickly risen through the ranks in Congress to become the Executive Director of the DCCC. Since that time, I have worked on Democratic campaigns, though I won't be more specific as to which one's I have worked on (in order to keep my anonymity), suffice it to say I have won all these campaigns, including most recently a Senate seat, previously held by a Republican, resulting in the Senate switching hands.

This past series of events in Congress has upset me a great deal. The current leaders of our party have led us astray. Whether out of fear, or more insidious, alterior motives. They have ignored the will of the vast majority of our party, and a vast majority of the country as a whole. They are flagrantly sitting on their hands and double-speaking half truths to try and maintain some amount of cover.

That being said, I wish it to be known, that I for one am sickened, SICKENED, by what I have read on this message board in past few days. People now not willing to vote, changing registration, abandoning our party in a time when we need smart, active people the most.

We are the Democratic Party, and we will rise up with a great fury and let it be known that this behavior is unacceptable, that treachery will always be confronted with a unified front, that truth will always be spoken to power, that lies will be revealed, and traitors will be brought to justice, from this day forth. We cannot make this a movement by throwing a tantrum, or threatening to leave the room like a stubborn 5 year old. We must make this a movement by showing our strength, by speaking as one, by taking back control of what is ours. OUR PARTY!

Do not make threats to leave, make threats to join!!

Fight against those who undermine the principles of our party by supporting those who symbolize those principles.

The next year is a very special time in our party, comrades. Over the next year, we will choose a leader, a presidential candidate, a person to lead us and represent what is great about our party. Make it known to those who are vying for this honor, that we, as a movement, will be strong only for those that are strong on their own, we will stand up only for those who can stand on their own, we will fight only for those who are able to fight on their own and we will rise up as the great movement we are. We are the Democratic Party!

Depending on what happens in the next few weeks, I think he'd sweep it.

He'd have my vote, of course.
