Why the TSA has ruled out body cavity searches for you, your mom, and your 13-year-old daughter:

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/monitor_breakfast/2010/1122/Video-TSA-chief-rules-out-body-cavity-searches

"Since a body cavity bomb needs an external triggering mechanism, there is a possibility current screening technology would pick up the trigger even though it could not detect explosives hidden in a body cavity. 'So we are not going to get in the business of doing body cavities,' Pistol said at breakfast. "

In other words, TSA is ruling out body cavity searches now because the structure of current bombs makes them unnecessary, not because they are WRONG.

Of course, who knows what the next threat will look like, and if it will even need an external triggering device?

Isn't it nice to know what the TSA is thinking?

5. Can you imagine how gleeful they would be
at being responsible for the cavity invasion of thousands of Americans?

2. And what would stop such persons from going in the airplane bathroom...
removing the bomb and then detonating it? The trigger doesn't have to be on the outside of the body.

9. Or using a wireless trigger, or hell, even a magnetic trigger...
lots of possibilities. But we do forget one factor, having a bomb detonate inside the bomber isn't ideal anyways, anyone who saw Mythbusters(specifically the person jumping on grenade episode) would know that the human body is quite good at stopping a certain amount of explosives from killing those around you. A bomb up the ass will kill the person that has it up the ass, and it might hurt the person sitting next to them, but most likely won't cause too much more damage than that.

3. gee, that makes me feel so much better, think I'll book a flight -- NOT
#$%^()&* the police state and their x-ray machines with unqualified, untrained moron operators giggling at my private parts as they mutate my cells with radiation as the sheep meekly bleat their way through.

Another grand scam of the masses, how original.

16. This is one of those defining moments for a government.
It needs to be stopped NOW, or it will continue in ways we can't even imagine now.

8. Umm Im not bomb expert but I do have alot of experiance with electronics. And that sounds like BS
You can put a trigger in your ipod if you wanted to. It's just a matter of sending out a small signal. And judging by the fact that they were able to make bombs out of printers with remote triggers I'm sure they could figure this out.

But I guess I probably shouldn't tell them that as I have been lucky to have lived my life so far without anything penetrating my butt hole.

13. In theory you could make the trigger where with enough pressure
it sets it off...

So, say you custom build it to require 17lbs of force between two metal tabs to set it off. The force can come from squeezing your ass, or whatever else you can think of :P

17. I feel blessed to have no airline ticket at the moment.
I do have a train ticket. I flew 5 or so times a year for a few years and spent 5 weeks in Europe last summer (first time to Europe). I would like to quit flying in protest.

19. Ummm ......
.... we can recharge and recalibrate internal/implanted medical devices already, so we can also trigger and internal bomb.

He said that to stay out of deeper, hotter water.

Period.

They will do cavity searches if they want to and you can't do shit about it cuz it is sanctioned from the top down.
