5. why bullshit? you think it's a good idea to give bush a blank check
for this war?

shit! we didn't need a majority in the house for that to happen--the pukes could have given him that...just like they've been giving it to bush for the last four fucking years.

did you bother looking at the links i provided or are you just shooting from the hip? (you don't support minimum wage either then?)

38. Yes, bullshit!
They already passed a bill with timetables! Jesus H. Christ, has everyone forgotten about that?

Bush vetoed it! What the fuck are they supposed to do now, send him another bill he will veto? If they did that there's at least a 50/50 chance the Dems would get blamed for cutting off all funding for the troops, which is NOT what the majority wants, only 13% in the latest poll wants to cut off all funding for the troops.

Now I know a lot of 13-percenters are infesting DU and DKos, but don't be mislead, that is not the majority position.

We can't set a course out of Iraq until Bush goes or we have a veto-proof majority. Bush might hang on until the end of his term, but a veto-proof majority for timetables is coming, if not right this minute.

about Repubs, that you could lay off Hillary for just a short while?

They are subject to pull not only across the aisle but from partisans of presidential candidates.

These are two good, smart people. I don't always agree with them. But they are both tough customers. If they are having trouble, you have to ask, where is that trouble coming from?

Paging Mr. Schumer and Mr. Clinton and Mr. Ford.

12. Then she should name names
If she does not, then she protects those she is having trouble with and sells out her constituency as a result.

That is not leadership.

what our leaders had to deal with; you are talking about the Dems had to contend with re Junior.

And I'm sorry, but as much as I may agree with you about the outcome, I see no point in tarring Reid or Pelosi. They had pressure and company.

29. No, we are talking about the same thing
Edited on Thu May-24-07 03:40 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
What our leaders had to deal with......Democrats willing to give Bush exactly what he wanted...no timetable. Democrats who naively believe (or cynically are propaganting the spin) that the supplemental would ACTUALLY result in our troops being stranded in Iraq.

Turncoats. The people who make this party weak because they jump the aisle more times than they stay on our side. For senate I have made these calculations....you would not believe how much our "conservative" Democrats hurt us at the most critical times. Let me fill you in....the argument is not about 100% ideological purity...wit these I'd be happy with 50%. Good ole Ben Nelson scored nearly zero, but he is NOT alone.

And then we protect their identities with secret votes and the Marquis of Queensbury rules?

Screw that....I want names. Everyone involved in pulling the timetable out, everyone who votes for this piece of shit legislation. I want all of their names. Anything less and the leadership is protecting them from their own constituents. THAT is why they deserve criticism....and a lot of it.

Bring the moles out in the open so we can cut the umbilical to their lobby money by firing their ass in the primaries after hounding them in their offices.

If we do not get open votes and the details about this stupid, ill-fated negotiation, then the leadersip is protecting them. And in effect, refusing to hold them accountable.

That will embolden the turncoats, and Bush both, of course. Expect more backstabbing. Expect more fecklessness. Expect nothing to change. The only thing we have not tried is courage.

Tact to the cowards, scoundrels, and elitists who hide their identities while they write the death sentences of thousands? NEVER!

Or how hard their job is. They either represent me or they don't. It's times like these that people decide exactly which of the pullers they're going to go with, and these people have chosen interests other than the general population.

13. Hoyer is majority leader - it's his butt that needs frying - not Pelosi
Hoyer couldn't get all the Dems on the same page. He's the failure. That ain't Pelosi's job anymore -- although I have no doubt she did what she could without actually doing Steny's job for him.

27. Speaker Hoyer and Leader Emmanuel??
Pelosi has been managing those two very well actually, but Reid was obviously wimping out on behalf of the Senate Dems and she couldn't beat the Republican/DLC combination on this bill without Reid. She can outdo one or the other, and given enough time she might have managed a better outcome, but the combo of House DLC and Repubs, the Senate Dems and the President wouldn't allow it more time. This is not Pelosi's fault. It's her burden. Remember, she voted AGAINST the IWR.
