And this is what Krugman (and many of us well before Krugman went there) have pointed out as the ... dysfunction of DC.

We are not reaching a Constitutional Crisis we are there kiddies.

Oh and the TSA brouhaha is also part of this dysfunction. You see it was NOT authorized by your Congress, but they still BOUGHT the machines.

we are at the great crisis of our age... we are there. It is not recognized yet... but we have been moving, fast, towards that crisis for two years.

It is really ugly and things will get really bad, I fear.

Yes, they COULD very well crash the economy... and the Empire. I don't believe it will survive until 2012 at this point given trends. Ironically the people who believe the most in it, will bring it down.
