Something does not make sense in this worry about terrorists.

About once or twice a year a guy fails to blow up a plane.

But where are the others blowing up a train station or in a crowd of people in the mall or opening fire at a crowded stadium parking lot?

I know a plane could kill 200 but 10 of them killing 20 people would be the same.

Anyone who wants to get in this country can through Mexico, no doubt about it.

If they really wanted to get in this country they could. If they really wanted to cause deaths there are ways to do it.

I think there are very few nuts out there who want to.

20. Next time I will take the two conures
to the airport wearing sweaters...

Just half joking...those two will byte... and one of them is pretty capable of ... breaking a finger if he is pissed enough.

4. We have "domestic terror" shoot 'em ups at malls and schools and
workplaces every year. Yet we still go about our business.

7. Several assumptions here that you are making that are wrong
1.- The 911 crew did NOT come through Mexico, and every attempt to penetrate the country by land has come from CANADA. The they will use Mexico is a canard... by the way most entered through JFK and other Airports in the East.

2.- Most attacks have happened in Europe or in country trying to drive us out... it is actually geography.

3.- That is why they are worried about internal cells...

4.- Sooner or later there is somebody who will succeed in actually getting on a plane and making it go boom.

5.- What we are doing is stupid and does not work very well, but you knew that.

and there are few VERY COMMITTED nuts. When they finally succeed, you think the country is nuts now, just wait.

8. Where is one that happened here since 911? Just one? A mass attempt. That killed anyone?
The TSA is acting like there are 1000s. There are not. There should be one a week base don the level of worry they sell us.

9. London,
Spain...

They happen regularly in Baghdad... and of course in Afghanistan.

They are occurring... as I said, it is geography... if the US was geographically CLOSER, and did not have two oceans, I am willing to bet we'd already had a few successful attacks.

As I said, we are doing something that is stupid... but the threat is there.

Granted, some of the threat is quite internal (see militias) but that is another kettle of fish.

12. I did not say they were that many
just that they are there and are committed.

Like going to Iraq, which about 15 people were itching for...

This is best case 5,000 people... imo of course.

But they can still do some damage

Here is the part that is amazing... if you start comparing the views of OBL (who I believe is pushing daisies by now) with those of the hard core neocons and remove religion from it... they are not that far apart.

This is also quite a bit of police work... and in some regions of the world that would make the worst of the WIld West look like under full civilian control.

17. Wow, so the Islamo-fascists are really out there but they're just ineffective
I mean, who knew? My impression was that it was just a massive scare campaign devised by the Bush administration in order to get its agenda passed. If we're really at war, with "we" meaning, I guess, Western people, either in Europe or America, with Islamists threatening our way of life....either "over there" in Spain or closer to home....does that mean that Guantanamo was a good idea after all? Inquiring minds want to know.

19. Not at all
and why after 9.11 we should have done exactly what has been done previously during terrarist threats. Treat it as a POLICE matter... since this also involved Afghanistan you could justify a few Special Forces people.

Trial of all those people at Guantamo by civilian courts, with NO water boarding should have been done a while ago. In fact, Bush and the rest should face the music for WAR CRIMES.

But to think that these guys are not real is stupid, oh and they are not islamo fascists, but wahabi... get your factions straight... and in a population of 1.5 billion muslims, 5K best case is a minuscule number. This is why it should have been treated as a POLICE matter.

Don't worry, the navel grazing will soon be replaced by the very real internal crisis...

there are so many of this type at security checkpoints and clearly they are angry and want to blow up the plane and not have to go back to Sun City which is, my God, it's like so boring.

21. not only no but hell no
If we could pull our heads out of our asses and quit pissing in everyone else's sandbox, we'd have even fewer enemies. If we really got our game on and helped those countries that need help, we could be the light of the world.
Sad thing is, we won't do that if there is not a quick profit to be made for those in control.
