On Barbara Bush and what it means about how America thinks of her
The Cult of Barbara Bush is an excellent example of how so much of America is often hoodwinked by the outer veneer of a person. For years, anyone that has closely watched this woman, it is clear, she is not a nice person, but has been protected by her seemingly physical exterior of looking like the typical loved Grandma.

Not only that, the main stream media has always used descriptors in their reporting that further portrays this woman as everyone's grandmother.

And now she is being seen as a darling of the Dems because she is trashing Sarah Palin.

One thing that is really ridiculous, though, is how while the media portrays her as America's Grandma, is how they ignore probably the most sincere trait in Grandmothers (something this viper does not have) and that is their often cited belief in, "if you can't say something kind about someone, then keep quiet." But not ole Babs....she gets a pass, just because she looks like a picturesque-Grandma.

1. Thank gawd not all us self-sufficient, bold, and
audacious grandmas are required to fit yours or anyone else's stereo type about what a grandmother should be. Shame on you for implying that being a strong woman, grandma or not, is a bad thing.

I'm no fan of Babara Bush's politics or family, but I am a fan of strong women who don't apologize for it, which she is.

Embrace your inner BITCH. Brave, intelligent, tenacious, clever, honest.

2. I'm sorry....my point was not clear....

I was not criticizing strong, brave, intelligent or out spoken Grandma's or saying women should fit MY thoughts of them.

What I meant was, she carries and portrays this image of a decent woman and it is furthered by the media's continued portrayal of her as a decent, caring and "grandmotherly" type person, when she is actually a mean, vile and despicable woman. And a lot of this has to do with her physical appearance and how the media describes her - in American culture, she LOOKS like what we are taught and fed what a typical decent grandmother should look like - shock of white hair, warm, thick (for hugging and keeping us safe) and so on.

And in American culture, we too often believe what someone tells us, rather than carefully observing their nature and behavior.

Hope that clears it up.....
