4. I have and will admire Murtha - but he is wrong on this!
No compromise - no capitulation.

Enough is enough!

Murtha et. al. are public servants who need to represent the will of the people. A Yes vote ignores that will.

6. A veteran does not want to be seen denying fellow troops what they need, even if
it's not the true reality of the situation. I can't be too hard on him. Or any of them--they know how it will be painted.

9. McCain is a veteran.
Former POW, actually. Yet he supports torture.

Go figure.

A vote for funding is a vote for more troops dying needlessly.

3. I was wondering about him
He has shown true emotion for the troops over the past few years. Was he faking that emotion?

What does he know that others dont?

10. I'm Making a List
of all congressmen/women who vote for this and I will keep my list updated with the names of other traitors.

When election time comes up, I will not vote for one of them. Not one.

15. Me No Understand
I listened to his jusitifications and it was, "they'll run out of money in a few weeks if we cut them off"...huh?

There is an act called the "feed and forage act" that states that our troops will never go without while they are deployed. We dont have to worry about that. Money that we could cut would stop flowing to black ops and blackwater contracts.

"The Feed and Forage Act is legislation passed by the United States Congress that allows the Military Departments to incur obligations in excess of available appropriations for clothing, subsistence, fuel, quarters, transportation and medical supplies. This provision is codified in Section 3732 of the Revised Statutes (41 U.S.C. § 11). It also authorizes incurring deficiencies for costs of additional members of the Armed Forces on active duty-beyond the number for which funds are currently provided in DoD appropriations (Title 10 U.S.C.)."

They will not go without

20. I recall that from previous bills
I think the money all comes from the same place. Defense Dept.

And you know Bush would steal money from there to continue the Iraq occupation.

22. None of this shocks me, not should it surprise anyone.
The Democrats did not in general campaign on a promise to defund the war. Only a few did. I expected even less of them in fact. Either people are OK working within the Democratic camp to apply pressure and move things in the right direction or they're not - I am OK with that. That said, I would never, ever vote for one cent for combat operations in Iraq.
