McCain talks 'regime change' for North Korea
The former presidential candidate posits coup, blames China for not 'behaving as a responsible world power'
By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL, Associated Press

Sen. John McCain said Sunday it was time to discuss "regime change" in North Korea, but the former Navy combat pilot didn't say how he advocates changing the government in the repressive and secretive dictatorship.

McCain, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he was not suggesting military action against the North. He said the Chinese, the North's closest ally, should rein in its neighbor, and he accused Beijing of failing to play a responsible role in either the Korean peninsula, where tensions are high because of a recent attack by the North, or the world stage.

McCain said the Chinese government's call for emergency talks was a "fine first step," but he questioned whether North Korea would stop its long history of confrontation without significant penalties.

"I think it's time we talked about regime change in North Korea, and I do not mean military action, but I do believe that this is a very unstable regime," McCain said.

7. Technically it would be the some Korean War
because there was never a treaty to end the war, just a ceasefire, but I agree he would have reignited the war as well as declared war on Iran and who knows who else.

2. Everyone wants regime change in the DPRK, but nobody wants to take a nuke in the face
Then there's China to worry about, speaking about nukes. China's the only real friend North Korea has left, and even Beijing is telling the Dear Leader to cool it.

3. How many of HIS kids would be going over there to fight???
There were 37,000 US Troops in South Korea in 2007.

The last thing I want is yet another front where US lives will be lost...where our soldiers will be maimed...where our tax money will be wasted making private warmongers rich.

14. Oh, I agree, I was just trying to refresh my memory and thinking that
his kid may be career military and may well wind up in a Korean conflict should, God forbid, it ever occur.

how to bluff. He has been bluffing for years and years and still stays in the media.

16. That's such a wonderful idea!!!
We have such a rich history of proven effectiveness in regime change abroad. Just look to Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan for a few of our best examples of success.
