1. You wouldn't, really.
And if you probably would not have any earned income.

Just qualified dividends/bank interest/etc.

2. I haven't heard any rich people beside the republicans
say they need a tax cut, it seems like the only reason the republicans want the tax cut is because they would benefit.

4. My theory is that once you become a multi-millionaire...
....you are visited by space aliens who say they will resurrect you after death into immortal life but only if your tax rate is at a certain level.

6. slippery slope, first back to the Clinton Era, Then to Reagan's first term
then to Nixon's top tax rate

Now all of a sudden you are in a 70% bracket

7. At least someone's fighting.
Funny, whenever I talk about a slippery slope, people call me an alarmist. :eyes:

8. Rich people as a rule are obsessed with money.
Wall Street is a cesspool of greed. Nothing is enough to them. Their entire lives are immersed in making money. They value nothing of true value, just the paper kind. Humans are irrelevant to them. If they could profit off the homeless they would. The reason why there is a huge debate over the elimination of the tax cuts for the rich is because of the unbridled greed and selfishness in the top 2 percent. The rich couldn't care less about the millions of people who are hurting (or dying) in this country. They have theirs and that is all they care about.

Three percent wouldn't matter to normal people like the middle class or the poor. But three percent to the rich would be like drawing all the blood out of their bodies. And to make sure their taxes do not go out they have sent out their army of political prostitutes in government to stop the Bush tax cuts from expiring. And what is sickening is how democrats will certainly cave in as they always do when confronted by the greedy and the evil.

9. Totally agree except for one point.
3% would matter to the poor.

Maybe that's part of the problem... that the national dialogue is so focused on what's going on with the rich that we don't even talk about the poor.

13. You're right of course, but I was figuring 3% of Zero = 0
But as you said, that three percent to someone pour means they would do without something they need. The rich wouldn't miss that 3 percent, but their egos would.

14. 3% of 0 is 0... until they start getting creative.
Man, I hope they don't implement a VAT. Extreme regressive taxation and political suicide, all in one convenient package.

17. Bingo!
It is more about keeping money out of the hands of the lessers so they remain subservient to their whims.

12. Nothing since you'd have your money in tax free bonds
Only the kind that aren't exposed to AMT.

Five percent tax free on a billion is $ 50 million a year tax free.

Then you could go around saying taxes should be higher knowing you won't pay any anyway.
